My wife has been dropping hints (like anvils on my toes) that she would like a string of pearls for her birthday, and I'd like to oblige. I know nothing about buying pearls. I can probably afford it, but don't want to break the bank.

Emmylou Harris ordinarily uses a Gibson acoustic guitar, but on some songs (notably The Pearl) she uses a crazy guitar with its lowest string lifted off the fretboard as a drone. Who makes it?
Here is a (mesmerizing)
video of her playing The Pearl
And here is a
photo of her playing it. (The pic shows the luthier's mark on the headstock, but I do not recognize it).

Is there any factual basis to the idea that FDR knew the Japanese were going to attack Pearl Harbor, and allowed it to happen to get the U.S. citizenry behind the war?

My mother gave me a pearl ring (one white and one black natural pearls on a simple silver band, can't find a close match online) to give to my fiance. It's incredibly small, and I would absolutely need to have it resized to fit her finger, by at least a half size, and as much as a whole size. What would that cost, and given the ring, is it worth it? It's from about 1970 or so. I'm in Chicago, is there any place that you can recommend?

Everytime I sync my blackberry with Outlook 2007 my task due dates get screwed up. By at least 500 years. Really. Is this a problem with outlook or does Microsoft know about my plan to get cryogenically frozen at some point?

This is a recording of the CBS radio announcement of the Pearl Harbor bombings. I remember having a longer version of this exact clip, and right where this one ends an announcer with a classic American radio accent says "We take you now, to Washington". Where could I find that again? (I've googled, and all I can find is the abridged version).

I'm thinking of upgrading to the new Blackberry Pearl. Is their desktop software that syncs info (between my calendar, email, to-do's) compatible with the Mac, or will I need third party software?
