I canned (cold packed) seven pints of fresh peaches yesterday. The lid rings weren't screwed on tightly enough while the jars were processed, so some of the syrup leaked out. The jars do seem to have sealed, however. What should I do about this? [more inside]

Edible filter: I've discovered that my experience of peaches burning, and peach fuzz being like a cactus, is an allergy that came along with puberty. Essentially what should be sweet and tart tastes sweet, tart and spicey. I don't mind the afterburn, but what happens if you keep eating allergy triggering food? [more inside]

Why do grapes and peaches shrivel in different ways? Is it to do with the type of skin? The surface area? Water content? Or the size of their stone? Any ideas gratefully received.
