Is there a prepaid phone plan in the US that will let me use my Samsung Galaxy S2 at full speeds, for short visits (ie: without having to pay for a full month of use)?

I'm on T-Mobile Pay As You Go but am thinking of buying a friend's old iPhone that he is selling very cheap. Can I unlock the phone and just throw my SIM card in? I currently have a Motorola L7 which I'm not too crazy about and although I understand the iPhone wouldn't have internet, I thought it might be a nice upgrade in terms of camera, having iPhone apps, etc. Will this work?

I'm interested in buying an OLD iPhone and using it with AT&T's pay as you go service. If I choose the Pay as You Go Unlimited plan, which is 10 cents per minute + 1 dollar per day only on the days I use my phone, should I be able to 1) use a payg sim card with the iphone straight out of the box, and 2) add a text messaging bundle to this?
Also, is it possible to get a payg sim card without having to purchase a phone directly from at&t?

I've got an unlocked iPhone (first-gen) running 1.1.4. Currently, I use AT&T's PAYG w/ Unlimited MediaNet to get unlimited data for $20/month. I'll soon be going to the UK, and I'd like to set up a similar arrangement. I'd like some advice as to how to accomplish this.

Any Australian mefites out there with tax accounting knowledge for film/tv workers? I am so confused about this "income averaging" thing everyone's talking about. I get the theory of why and how income averaging works, but I'm a bit confused about who is eligible, as I've been hearing conflicting stories...

I'm going to be visiting the U.S. for a month shortly. I'd like to have a U.S. cellphone (and U.S. number) while I'm there. I'm not a U.S. resident, so I have no credit history or bank account, and I don't particularly want to sign up for a contract anyway. Will I be able to walk into a store in Park City, Utah (which store?) and buy one? Can I steal a march by ordering on online and having it shipped to my hotel despite my lack of U.S. credentials? Which carrier has the best Pay As You Go deal?

Do you use Virgin Mobile (in the U.S.)? Even better, do you use
their Slice phone? All its specs are fine for me; I'm hoping to hear how you like it (especially the
sound quality of calls, since the reviews of that are mixed) and/or how you like using Virgin Mobile.
