I'm looking for the title of a children`s picture book which had a boy named Paul and a man with a crystal ball named Solamand (sp?) . Many of the pages had shiny silver spots on them such as a silver rain puddle. I thought it had ``Apprentice`in the title, but maybe not. I don`t know when it was published but my children read it in the `80s. Paul somehow travels from his home to were Solamand is. Does anyone remember it?

Ron Paul crossed over to very strongly appeal to people who weren't previously politically active and who wouldn't normally have identified as Republican. Is there indication whether or not his son Rand is attracting similar support and excitement among that same crowd? [more inside]

I "remember" a proposed project by Christo and Jeanne-Claude to dye the fog that comes through the Golden Gate between San Francisco and Marin County. I don't think it ever came to fruition, but I do think it was proposed. Am I making that up? [more inside]

Random documentary filter: I just watched this film
about Percy Paul, a brilliant mathematician with bipolar disorder and I was wondering how he's doing today in 2010. By chance does anyone on the green know?

OK, so I discovered the CBC radio show "The Great Eastern" via MeFi. They had a great site that archived show scripts, full MP3s, offshoot fan projects and many other bits of content that helped create an alternate universe. My question? The site (http://www.schooner.ce.mun.ca:8080/great/) is no longer available and I feel like I've lost a goofball interweb friend. Anyone know what happened? Related: Anyone know what Paul Moth is up to?

Xian Theology: most of the teachings of my wife's Church that really
irritate me are either old testament, or from Paul. Given that Paul was not one of the 12 apostles (did he even meet J.C.?) and also that the Bible was put together at Nicea in the 4th century, is it possible to be a Xian and reject all Paul and Leviticus' homophobia? Any speculation as to what Xian teaching would've been like if Paul hadn't sent so many damn letters?
