I am a canadian citizen applying for a canadian passport
, but I don't personally
know any person eligible to serve as a guarantor
, unless "personally" is legally defined more loosely than I imagine. Have you had any experience applying for a canadian passport with a "Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor"
, and was the process complicated and delayed by the lack of guarantor?

"Papers Please" Part II. Readers of my previous question
may be glad to know my gf finally got her visa. My new question is, what's the deal with getting a new passport, now that the visa's already attached to this old ('damaged') passport? As usual, there's [more inside]

I'm traveling from incessantHQ Los Angeles to Armenia on September 9th and I need to renew my passport right quick and I need a visa but the next available appointment at my local passport agency isn't for another week. So should I go with one of those passport expediting services like these guys?
Has anyone used a service like this before? What are my best options in this situation? [more inside]

Let's say you emigrated to the USA from Italy with your family when you were just a child and you're now in your 20's. You find yourself in a situation where, for one reason or another, you've lost your birth certificate, your citizenship papers and your passport and you want to set about obtaining them again. How would you go about doing it? Where would you even start? Could you come up with a detailed step-by-step plan? It would seem to be a Catch-22. Can you get one document without having the other.

I'm getting ready to travel to South America. A couple of years ago, I washed my passport in a washing machine. It looks beat up, but all the pieces are there. Is there the possibility that I could be denied entry? How quickly could I get a new one if needed? Picture inside. [more inside]

We are vacationing in mexico on the 24th, but my wifes US passport still shows her maiden name. Do we have to hustle and get it changed, or will her changed drivers license be enough to get her in and out with her current passport?

I'm booked for a flight from NYC to Japan at 11:00 AM on Thursday. Yesterday, my passport went through the wash and, while intact, is quite possibly invalid. Is it possible to get some sort of emergency replacement on such short notice, or will I have to postpone the trip? [more inside]

A friend of mine is a felon. He has been convicted twice, but he would like to travel internationally. Does the US government issue passports to felons? Do they even care? Does the type of felony even matter? Is there any hope!!?

If I am a US Citizen, and want to go to Canada for a few days, do i need a passport? I had one, but it was stolen, I'm a poor student right now, so i dont have the cash (or time to wait) for a new one to come. Is a driver's license or birth certificate considered official enough documentation?

[EU-Filter] I'm an American currently studying in Germany. I'm planning to travel to the Netherlands soon; unfortunately, I had to give out my passport to start the student-visa process. I've managed to lose the copies I made. I'm travelling by train. Will not having a passport be a huge problem? I've heard yes, I've heard no - so I'm turning to the Green for the answer.

An acquaintance who travels overseas frequently would like to scan and store her important identification (passport and driver's license) along with her credit cards, and store the images securely online. We would like to make the documents easily accessible to her through a Web page, but otherwise secure. I have offered her some space on my shared server, and while I have some ideas about how to secure things, suggestions would be useful.

Would my 3 year old son need a passport to travel into Canada from the US for a day trip? He'd be travelling with 3 other adults (all directly related to him), all of whom have unexpired passports. We'd be crossing at the Queenston/Lewiston bridge (outside Buffalo, NY). I have his birth certificate.

When applying for a US passport, has anyone been asked to send supplemental identification (driver's license, social security card, union member card, beautician's license, etc.)? Why? If I send my supplemental identification now, is there any hope that I will get my passport in less than four weeks from now?
