I am a UK citizen - I was born in the UK - and recently discovered that my passport expired almost a year ago. [more inside]
I left a bag on a plane last night; thankfully it was taken by airline staff to the airport's Lost and Found office and I will pick it up tonight. In it (still) are my U.S. passport, an American Express card, and Visa debit cards from two different bank accts. This is a small airport in a remote Scandinavian town with an extremely low crime rate. No activity today on any of the cards. Still, do I need to put any sort of identity-theft flags on passport and/or on cards?
I changed my name. Or perhaps I did not. I'm not quite sure any more, and suddenly it matters quite a bit. [more inside]

The consulate wants my passport to issue a visa but I am afraid I will not get it back in time: what to do?
I am in a bit of a bureaucratic bind and I need some advice. Short story: I leave for a trip in 10 days and at this point have no visa for the country that I will be living in for a year. The consulate just emailed me a couple of hours ago and informed me that I need to send my passport to them (who are located in a city 12 hours away) in order that they can issue me the visa. Problem: I have been trying to get this visa for months now, and they have been terribly slow every step of the way. I am worried that I will not get my passport back in time before my flight. What do I do? [more inside]
Can I travel within the US using an expired Canadian passport? [more inside]
I'm a British native, and my partner is Asian - we've been married for some years (Asian more in the sense of 'outside the EU', which would have made this easier). At the weekend, a wallet containing their ICFN (Immigration Card for Foreign Nationals) was stolen. They urgently need to fly on family matters this weekend, however we're not sure what the status of their return will be without the ICFN [more inside]

Question about a new passport and getting into the United States [more inside]
My U.S. passport expires 13 Oct 08 and I need to book one international trip before then: leaving New York 17 July 08, returning 2 Aug 08 (one destination country, a non-EU-member in Eastern Europe, plus stops for flight transfers in one or two EU member countries). Is it even worth researching various countries' and airlines' how-close-to-expiration-date safety ranges for travel, or should I just assume I MUST renew my passport before then?
