I am looking for a very small, passive UHF RFID tag that works when affixed to containers of liquids.
I have spent a long time carefully researching my requirements and I am certain that:
- it has to be UHF, not HF and not NFC.
- it has to be passive.
- it has to be small (the other ones I've found are 14-20cm long which is completely unfit for my purpose).
- it HAS to be functional when affixed to containers of liquids.
I found a tag with the perfect spec: the Avery Dennison AD-110m5.
Now all I have to do is get them to sell it to me. THIS IS THE HARD PART. [more inside]

There is a girl in my circle who has taken to completely ignoring me and making snide remarks in front of me. Let's call her J. For instance, I sat across J during dinner when our group was at a restaurant. J would talk to 1) the people next to her and 2) the people sitting next to me. She never once said so much as a word to me, and when I joined in a conversation J and other people are having, J quickly looks bored and turns away.
You'd think from her behavior, we're all in middle school. Nope, we are 21 years old and in college. This is also our church group (ha, ironic). I've pretty much ignored J's antics for the past 5 months, but since she hangs out with us a lot, it's becoming difficult to ignore. I'm wondering when she'll let the phase subside, and if I should even do anything? [more inside]

In index mutual funds, many of the decisions on portfolio construction are effectively outsourced to the makers of financial indexes, thereby lowing costs for the fundholders. Doesn't this just push the costs to the publishers of these indexes? Someone has to decide which securities stay in and which ones go out. How do they get paid for this work when anyone can look up the constituents of the S&P 500 and construct a fund that just happens to share the same stocks without using the S&P name? Can Standard and Poor's somehow enforce licensing fees on institutions that do this? Do things work differently for the creators of more specialized indexes?

How do I reconcile a basic difference between my live-in-partner and myself about recreation? One enjoys something active now and again, the other always wants something passive. What is a happy compromise? [more inside]

I find myself in a pattern of getting into long-term relationships with people who end up displaying massive passive-aggressive tendancies and negativity. I always think I've found someone who is going to be a great, equal partner and I just end up in the same relationship again and again. [more inside]

Can you guys recommend any resources for learning assertive communication? In my family I learned to avoid conflict at all costs. Therefore, I don't know how to approach "difficult conversations" directly. [more inside]
