I'm trying to find additional shelves to fill out a couple of Ikea closets or wardrobes that came installed in my apartment. The problem is, I have no idea what the product is called (or even if it's still produced by Ikea), which makes finding replacement parts nearly impossible. [more inside]
I've got a fiberglass extension ladder with a missing bottom rail bracket and foot. All the markings on the ladder have worn off. I'd like to be able to find replacement brackets/feet, but my searching so far has yielded nothing. I have pictures of the remaining part. Can you help? [more inside]
I'm looking for some 500 square mile area of the world with giant piles of machine parts. Junkyards would be good. But any piles of former machinery would still work. And it doesn't have to be cars. Planes. Boats. Anything scrap worthy but still semi-useful would work. SO where should I be looking?
I would love to build this much linked to lego Sisyphus Kinetic Sculpture. That page includes instructions and a parts list. Great! But: it uses 475 pieces. Is there any way to buy these parts as a set or some other efficient way that doesn't involve trying to track down each piece individually?
Have the Samsung SCS-2U01 network extender for Verizon. Moved homes. Lost the wireless antenna for the thing – not the GPS antenna, but the stubby antenna attached to the unit itself. (See this picture.) Where can I find a replacement? [more inside]
Is there any way to get a replacement motherboard for a Lenovo Y500 laptop? It's a relatively new computer. I'm surprised by what my repair guy is telling me. [more inside]
I have a '92 Geo Tracker with shot front lower control arm bushings and ball joints. My mechanic has recommended replacing the entire control arms rather than using a bushing kit, which I am onboard with. Given that this is a 25 year old car, OEM parts are preposterously overpriced. [more inside]
I have a set of Tupperware's small Hourglass Salt & Pepper Shakers (like these). I no longer have the tops, and exhaustive searching to find replacements has come up empty. Anyone know of a site that I can order just the shaker seal/caps for these in the U.S. without spending a bazillion dollars? [more inside]
I have a mid-2000s road bike that was built up with 9-speed Ultegra. One of the rear derailleur pulleys has ejected a ring of rubber (a gasket?). Shifting is fine, though my drivetrain seems inert - when I spin the cranks with my hand, it stops almost immediately as soon as I let go. So I think I should replace the pulley set, and probably the chain, though that's easier. [more inside]

My 3 year old Dell Latitude E6420 laptop needs a new battery. It had a replacement already about 2 years ago after the one it shipped with just fell out one day (!) but other than that has had no battery problems. Anyone know how I can get a reliable replacement **here in Germany**? I would ideally like a Dell or Dell-recognised component as this is my primary device and it needs to be reliable.

We need a center link for our 1994 G20 van. Our mechanic called around and couldn't find one, but said we might find one on the internet. No luck so far. Are there any secret places or techniques to find a part like this?
I need basically this. I'd rather order it from closer to home. My searches for this type of cable in the US haven't turned up anything, and I don't know enough about electronics to figure out what other names it might go by. I think it's a common type of cable so there must be something I'm missing. Thanks!
So I have an old truck. I'd like to hear your suggestions for tools, spare parts, fluids, etc that I should keep on hand in the truck either in case something goes wrong or in case I find myself having to do something tool-related while I'm out of the house. Hit me with your best suggestions! [more inside]
My small dog loves squeaky tennis balls and will chase them incessantly, morning and night. However, he is also quite adept at de-squeaking these toys, sometimes within minutes. While he does continue to play with the balls after they have lost their sound, these are far less alluring. As neither my budget nor my house has room for the infinite supply of fresh squeaky balls he desires, I seek to re-squeak these balls with fresh squeakers and some super glue. [more inside]
I have a Weller SP23 (23W) soldering iron which I've used for a couple of small through-hole kit projects. It's got a chisel tip which seems to have a ~4mm wide edge. I think I want a smaller chisel tip (maybe 2 mm) or maybe a new, versatile soldering iron. [more inside]
I have just finished a college course in business English. I did well, but I want to be able to look at parts of speech in a sentence and understand enough to know for sure why I am using who or whom or when to choose subjective or objective pronouns. (Example: Do you think it was THEY who left the door unlocked overnight?) My textbook spent more time telling you to substitute he or him for who or whom, but I wanted to be able to understand what part of speech was responsible for the choice. What is the best college level or above textbook to teach me this? Thank you in advance.

The rear backup light panel around my license plate fell off on my 10 year old Cadillac. I have been checking junk yards and looking online and am unable to locate one affordably. Apparently, it's a common problem on this older model of car as the adhesive wears, and they tend to fall off. It was my grandmothers car before she passed away, and I love taking care of her baby. It's $600 at the dealership for the entire assembly and has to be painted. My vehicle is silver/gray but I might take any color. Any suggestions would be helpful. I believe it looks something like this (though the following one is in black) http://tinyurl.com/c28n4cz

I may be purchasing a used Berkel bread slicer — the model is MB (it may be MBSS, since the whole model is stainless steel). It currently has a 3/8" slice size. Hi, it's your friendly neighborhood biotech lab-equipment-monkey again. In a continuation of the centrifuge saga, now that we've confirmed the unit will probably work with a proper rotor installed, I am on a quest to track down and acquire said rotor. Nobody seems to be selling it new anymore, and the ones I've found used are all missing crucial parts! Do I need better search-fu, or is it time to call the glue factory for this big old spinny beast? Halp! [more inside]
Anyone know where I can get a hopper/burner assembly for a Traeger grill (I have the Texas Grill, but any of their line may work)? So far internet searches have been unsuccessful. I have not yet contacted the manufacturer to see if they will sell spares, but all I can find from 3rd parties are spare internals (motors, controllers, etc)...

Are there resources on the internet where I can find information about what's under the hood of my car? I just feel that being a man and all I should have a good idea of what I'm looking at when I pop the hood of my car. I just want to learn the basics and maybe get a better idea of how stuff works under there. I have a Honda and a Toyota, and I know things are built differently under there, but if there's anything specific to those two then that would be preferable.

Hey folks. Long time reader, first time 'asker.' Help me find a cheap, used computer parts store in San Francisco - I'm particularly looking for Dell laptop parts. Just inherited a Dell D810 Latitude laptop - needs some love - almost free love, that's my budget... Any chance in getting a line on a used dell charger (type pa-10) or a used battery for a Latitiude d810 (type Y4367)? Anyone know of a recycle-ry that I can hit up for cheap? I've scouted ebay, put a call out on freecycle (Marin, SF), and scoured craigslist. Suggests?
