Weight differential making mattress uncomfortable - any solutions?

I am struggling with back aches when I'm trying to sleep. I think it has something to do with my sleeping partner weighing about 60lbs more than me. What are the possible solutions - both short term (mattress toppers, etc.) and long term (new mattress)? [more inside]

Gay Tax

I hit the holy grail and have a new position with full benefits, including full coverage for domestic partners. I have a partner who lives with me, but we are still fairly newish and are not ready to get married. I have to enroll us in the benefits very soon, like now. The problem is, the queer tax (I guess now the Not-Legally-Married tax) on my partner's benefits. [more inside]

Sites for finding an procrastination accountability partner?

This is probably an unusual question, but here goes anyway. I'm a chronic procrastinator, and have been having a hard time keeping on task from day to day. I would like to start planning my days ahead of time, but am having some trouble making it a habit. To that end, I've been trying to find an "accountability partner" online to correspond with through email, since I can't think of anyone who could assist me with this in real life. We could encourage each other, as well as keep each other honest. The problem is... I have no clue where to find someone who would be keen on this idea. Can you think of any sites in which I could find someone that might fit the bill? Also, do you have any suggestions for improving my idea? Details inside. [more inside]

Brain and body not both in love, makes me feel bad

I have been dating a woman for just under six months that I met unexpectedly when visiting another city. She is almost perfect: smart, funny, sassy, intellectually stimulating, kind, attentive, independently minded, socially aware, positive, sociable, generous, emotionally strong and sensitive, likes and wants to have children, easy going and has great friends. She dresses well and is pretty, has a lovely smile and is healthful. We enjoy straightforward communication and are open and honest with each other. I am not very physically attracted to her. Gift and/or ideas for girlfriend running PHL marathon

My GF is running her first-ever marathon next weekend in Philadelphia. I'm looking for creative or interesting suggestions for either a gift or something I can do that she might like (beyond flowers at the finish and a massage, both of which are a done deal). Any runners out there have a specific suggestion--maybe something sweet or thoughtful that was done for you after you finished? Thanks!

Job pairing: A Physician and a ?

I am about to enter medical school. My partner works in an entirely unrelated field, but doesn't plan to stay in that field. It recently occurred to us that (with appropriate training) he could switch to a job in healthcare that would enable us to work together after I finish my residency and begin my practice. We are trying to come up with an exhaustive list of jobs that exist in the office of a primary care physician in private practice. Can you help us flesh it out? The things we've thought of so far are nurse, nurse practitioner, billing and coding, office manager, bookkeeper. Please point out if you know of someone who does this job in the same office as their partner/spouse.

Party Animal Boyfriend - When is it too much?

My long term-ish boyfriend has developed over time a fixation with a particular crowd of young, party-going types and it's become more and more of a roadblock for me. He gains a significant degree of his self-esteem from going to parties/events that feature music, drug use, and what appears to me no more than lots of idle talk and some vaguely creative pursuits. Meanwhile, my boyfriend is in fact on the older side - approaching 40 - with no sense of financial planning or pursuing a truly meaningful career. It would seem that he has found a community of supportive, yet drug-using and less than gainfully employed young people to supply him with an ego boost. I, however, am entering a period of life in which I feel it's time to finally pursue commitment and plans for financial and familial security, yet I constantly feel abandoned as my boyfriend is out staying up all night at these parties.
