Why is my wireless router WZR-HP-G300NH not mounting my USB External HD?
I'm trying to access my Western Digital My Passport SE external hard drive through the wifi connection on the router. I have it plugged into the USB port on the router and it is powering on, but not mounting.
What have I done wrong?
How can I get this to work?
Does anyone know how to go about accessing the hard drive files once it is mounting properly?
I'll be using my MacBook to access the files and would like to stream my movies wirelessly from the external HD. [more inside]

Databases: is it better to spend money on faster disk I/O or partitioned tables? Which has more influence on the speed of a SELECT query? [more inside]

Is it worth partitioning big (>1.5TB) tables in PostgreSQL? Most partitioning stuff seems to be based on the idea of sequential data, where older data is moved off onto secondary hardware or something, but this data is all equally important. I can't figure out if partitioning would be a win when all rows are equally likely to be accessed. If it makes a difference, most queries will access only one row, but multiple row queries will span multiple partitions regardless of the partitioning criteria I choose.

Are there any good online guides to hard drive partitioning? I've always had a single hard drive partition, but since I'm getting a new system together I'd be interested to hear any suggestions regarding best practices, etc.

I'm moving into NYC for the first time. It's a studio, but a relatively large one, and I'd like to partition it. I've looked mainly at shoji screens, but I'd rather not take up the extra space with the accordion footprint. I don't want to spend a huge amount of money, or do anything that requires a permit. What are some creative options?; for_name=condour75 [more inside]
