Need the part # for a 2009 Ford Focus Passenger-side Mirror

I'm trying to find part number(s) to repair a sideswiped passenger side mirror on a 2009 Ford Focus.

Most of the mirror is intact, so I'd like to replace only the piece that clips the mirror into the holder cavity. If this isn't possible, I'll grudgingly pony up for the whole mirror assembly.

Bonus question: is there a place to buy the part in Orlando, FL before Sunday?

Thanks!

Part-Time Jobbery

I'm changing jobs here in a few weeks, but the new one occasionally takes up much less of my time. Thus I need an extremely flexible second job to fill the time! What's out there? A little history: Until recently, I was working a single 8-5 full-time job (about 45 hours per week). Since then I managed to secure a more lucrative job that has extremely sporadic hours - it might require 80 hours one week, and 5 the next. I've been trying to do both, but the old job is finally getting booted.

So here's my question: In the weeks that I have very little work, what can I do to continue earning? I would need a source of income that I can pick up and put down as needed, since there's no telling when I might get slammed with a very busy workload. I know there are things out there like Mechanical Turk, but the pay is abysmal.

So how realistic am I being? Is there something out there with decent pay for the time invested that is also as flexible as I need?

Ikea part number help, please!

Help me identify the part number for this Ikea part! I've had an Ikea dresser for about 12 years now, and it's held up very well...with the minor exception of the rails that hold the drawers in place. They're starting to crack, and a trip to the Ikea store over the weekend proved unsuccessful in finding a replacement (although the customer service folks were able to find a similar part for one of my other dressers). Anyway, was hoping someone out there could identify the part number for this, so I can go online and "Ask Anna" for replacements. I guess the other option would be to try and fashion a substitute myself, but I'm sure that would have disastrous consequenses.

(Note: The three knobs that stick out of the plastic are the fasteners that connect the rail to the dresser - it just pops in.)

Thanks...

Is it alright to buy fresh produce on Saturday morning to be used on Tuesday night?

How far ahead can I buy farmer's market produce? So, I'm throwing a casual dinner party this coming Tuesday (simple, but elegant salade niçoise, some sort of berry pie or grumble, fig, melon, and proscuitto appetizer). I was hoping to use good, fresh, farmer's market produce since, well, it's august...what better time to do so? The problem: my local farmer's market is on Saturday morning, but I won't be cooking until Tuesday. Will the veggies (heirloom tomatoes, new potatoes, peppers, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries) hold up between then and now or would I be better off just going to my local grocery store and buying them on Monday? Thanks!

Mystery Car Part!

What is this mystery car part??? Pulling into my apartment complex this afternoon, I ran over a minor pothole that I've been over many times before which bumped a little more than usual. Then a few seconds later, I heard clinka-clinka like something metal had dropped and was bouncing around on concrete (not dragging). I pulled into my parking lot since I was so close and then walked back to look and see what I had heard, and I found the round item in the linked picture (on 8.5x11 piece of paper for scale). WHAT IS IT??? One end is blunted like it came that way; the other is clearly broken off. It is solid metal and heavy, not a tube. Was it attached to my car and it broke off, or did I run over it, get it caught up in the undercarriage and further driving caused it to drop out again? Is my car safe to drive tomorrow? The undercarriage of the car looks fine from what I can tell; nothing hanging down, and I don't hear any hissing coming from the tires. Thanks for your help, MetaFilter!

Ideas for Interesting Part-Time Job

Meta-Filter worked well for me recently, so I thought I’d try again. I realize that what I’m asking is probably a pipedream, but here goes. I live in Los Angeles, CA, have a day job, and am looking for ideas for part-time work, evening and weekends, that would bring in between $500 - $1000 a month. Would like to work from home, but will commute any reasonable distance, depending on pay.
I have degrees in English Literature and Photographic Illustration and have worked for software companies in the past as an “Applications Engineer” (conducting product demos only, no
programming). In addition, taught a college-level computer graphics course while earning the Photo degree.
Past part time work includes bartending and teaching bartending courses. Also worked part-time at various minimum wage ‘sales’ jobs in retail stores of interest (i.e., Radio Shack).
Any ideas? Not looking for a new career here, just creative ideas for interesting PT work to pay off some bills. Wouldn’t mind something unusual or off-beat.

How did Michael know?

Question about The Godfather Part II: How exactly does Michael figure out that Hyman Roth was behind the shooting at his home?

This is one of my favorite movies, and I've seen it many, many times, but I've always missed this plot point. OK, so Michael's home is shot up. He assumes (or at least appears to assume) Frank Pentangeli is behind it, because of the grievances Frank expressed at the beginning of the movie. Next we see him visiting Hyman Roth, and telling Roth that "Frank Pentangeli is a dead man", to which Roth replies "he's small potatoes". Then we see him visiting Frank Pentangeli at his father's old home, and telling him that he knows it was Hyman Roth. How does he know? Does he assume it's Pentangeli until he talks to him, and then it dawns on him that it was Roth during their conversation?

Formal Christmas Attire

So I am looking for ideas as to what to wear to this year's company Christmas party. The theme is Naughty is Nice. I am not looking for anything too naughty, but more along the lines of something formal but outlandish. Any place that I could rent something for one night in the San Francisco area would be perfect. I have a couple of ideas, suit with a tophat/cane, maybe a leisure suit, anything that would turn heads.

Oh yes, I am a guy and I am not too into the assless leather chaps/gag ball/leather thong.

Types of part time jobs for a psychology student before applying to grad school

I'm presently completing a B.A. on Psychology (via distance learning) with the intentions of continuing towards a Masters in Clinical Social Work. I have a couple of questions:

1) I'm 42 years old and have done back to school as a career changer. I have a wife and daughter and need to work part time while I'm a full time student. Does anyone have any suggestions for work which might help with graduate schools looking at both my academic and work background? All of my previous work experience involves working with people, but not much similar to work a therapist would be engaged in (worked for last 8 years as a talent agent)

2) Does anyone know which cities offer the greatest potential for work as a clinical social worker as I hope to eventually open a private practice, but will work in hospital or mental health facility while gaining experience?

While I was putting my (Marin) mountain bike away after a fairly strenuous ride, I noticed this piece of metal on the floor. I didn't see it fall off my bike, but it certainly looks like it could have. Can you identify where it goes and how I might fix it?
Do part time IT jobs exist?

Do part-time IT jobs exist? I've had enough of the self-employment/freelance thing and am looking to find a part-time IT job. Does anyone out there have experience in landing a 20-30 hour/week job in system administration (preferably) or tech support? And specifically, what about using a staffing firm/temp agency to find p/t IT jobs? Or how about landing a p/t contract? (I am ignorant to a lot of the contract/staffing stuff.)

I can find plenty of clerical work that pays a decent amount, however, I was thinking that if I could find a tech job that it would pay more. So far I did find a tech support position that was nights/weekends, but it didn't pay much more than an average clerical job.

My goal is to be able to replace some or most of my meager self-employment income, but still have some spare time during the day to work on another project I have cooking.

Am I wasting my time looking for a p/t IT position? Any suggestions?

Part-time jobs for Mechanical Engineers?

What part time engineering jobs are there for a mechanical engineer just out of school? I've got one year left of a pair of degrees: Mechanical Engineering and Opera Performance. I'm gonna pursue the music degree when I finish, but could certainly use some $$ on the side to support this.

How do I use my engineering degree to make some bucks on the side without taking much time from my music studies?

I do have 1 semester worth of flexibility left, with which I could take a course or two that might help me be more qualified for some sort of job.

Qualifications:
-3.97 GPA from a good engineering department (USC)
-No work or internship experience (Though I have a number of independent student design projects that have been described on my resume in such a manner that it's not as blaring of a hole in my resume as it could be)
-Will have some machining experience, a semester of CAD (Program: IDEAS), very limited computer programming skills, fairly advanced(for undergrad mech engr) fluid dynamics/hydraulics

With such a seeming emphasis on $50k/year full time worker drone jobs for engineering graduates, what $10-20k/year jobs exist that require far less time?

Mostly looking for job categories that would exist in most cities, like 'CAD drone', etc, and general information that will help point me in the right direction

Short course to improve p/t rates

What short course can I do to get better paid part time or self employed work? I am currently recovering from an rsi, and am finding it useful to work part-time to have more time for therapies. I have modest outgoings, however I'm finding it difficult to manage on unskilled wages.

I have around £1000 to potentially spend on a course, which I guess would be similar to $1000.

Computer work would be out, or anything too taxing on the wrists/neck etc, but most physical activity is okay.

Open to all suggestions.

Ooh! Mystery part!

TinfoilHatFilter. What is this strange unmarked part in my car? I have a 2000 VW New Beetle TDI with the 5-speed manual transmission. Today I replaced a bad mass air flow sensor and the brake light switch (which, FYI, is under recall but I don't have the time to take my car to the stealership). As I was poking around near the brake pedal, my eyes came across a little box attached to the underside of the dash. I have seen it plenty of times before, but never really questioned it. It just seemed like perhaps part of the alarm system, and maybe it is.

This time, though, as I took apart the underside of the dash, that box got more and more suspicious. Firstly, I had to unscrew it from the dash plastic to take the underside of the dash off—why would VW put a box down there with an attached wire that blocks that panel? Second, it definitely didn't seem like a factory-standard installation: something about the screw holes and the screws used to mount it seemed professional but not factory-standard. Thirdly, it's completely unmarked—most VW parts have something written on them, like part numbers. It has an unmarked LED on the front, and I don't recall if I've ever seen it lit. It also appears to have some kind of chip inside of it, but I don't dare risk pulling that out without knowing what it is. The wires from the box seem to be tied to a number of things behind the dash underpanel, near the brakes, clutch, and fusebox.

What is this thing? Am I being tracked by the Illuminati or something?

I want to learn more about contemporary classical music.

I want to learn more about contemporary classical music of the Pärt, Feldman, Glass variety. Anyone have any pointers? {more inside} Ever since starting grad school I've been unable to listen to music, because I have to read all day and all night and can't deal with music while I read. This is a horrible disaster!

There are a few exceptions to this rule: for whatever reason, I can listen to Joy Division while I read. And some electronic music, like Gas, or Keith Fullerton Whitman; and stuff like Discreet Music or Dntel. I've been most successful, with music like Philip Glass's Metamorphoses, Pärt's Passio, and, recently, Max Richter's "Blue Notebooks."

What other minimalist, repetitive, non-distracting and yet beautiful and enriching classical music is out there? I swung by the record store today but was lost looking at all the composers.
