I'll be traveling to SF for business in mid November, and I booked my flight so I'll have a long weekend before the obligatory part of the trip starts. I'd like to spend at least two days seeing the nearby parks, but I'm worried about weather and accommodations. [more inside]

I'm looking for a playground (or any public park) that has the equipment necessary to perform pull ups, and less importantly but nice to have parallel bars for dips as well, in (or near) the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Philadelphia. [more inside]

I run and hike on regional/state park trails, and I occasionally find myself in conflict with people who have reserved campgrounds / picnic areas / outdoor areas for weddings and other events. These people often believe they have exclusive right to adjacent bathrooms and trails, sometimes blocking the latter. I don't think that's the case and they are still open to the public. Who's right? Recently moved to South Bend IN from Southern MN. In MN there were plenty of local parks and areas that allowed foraging on their land. Around here it seems every single park disallows foraging. Outside of just going to random people (I don't really know anyone around here) and asking to forage on their land are there any areas that allow for open foraging? I've been seeing ramps coming up and it kills me knowing I can't take them.
I would like to have a career in one of the federal agencies that administers our nation's (that is, America's) public and protected lands—a park ranger or similar. What are the prospects like for those types of jobs, and how do I go about getting one given where I am now and where I plan to be in a year or so's time? [more inside]
I'm going to London for about a week. I've never been before, and I'd like to have a really relaxing time - almost like a spa retreat - for not a million dollars. What are inexpensive activities to do, or cute little places to eat that would make me feel like "London is such a relaxing, peaceful place"? I don't want to tear around London trying to cram in as many sights as possible, I want a relaxed and curated look at the place, with some weird neat shops and surprising delights along the way. [more inside]
At a recent visit to my nearest Six Flags ("Fiesta Texas") I started to notice signs for fake histories of fake towns across the park. Is just a feature of my park, or do ones you've been to have them, too? If so, what are they? [more inside]
This summer (mid June) I am carting my family off to a wedding in Bloomington, IN. However, due to various issues, we are flying into and out of Chicago and then driving down. So I need suggests for where to stop along the way so that I don't kill my kids (5 and 2 years old), and they don't go crazy from boredom. [more inside]
I remember reading in an old Backpacker Magazine the Best Hikes in the Midwest, and number one was a few hours outside of St. Louis. But I don't remember what it was and I can't find it online! Failing someone finding that, I would like recommendations for a place within 3 hours of St. Louis where we could hike a couple hours and then camp for the night. [more inside]

Where can my girlfriend and I sit down, relax, read, and talk for a long while during our visit to London? When weather is good, we love parks. When it's raining, we're at a loss. Are there any especially good libraries or other places for this kind of thing? Thanks!
So, the National Parks are shut and husband and I are on a US road trip of a lifetime, during which we were due to visit/camp at many of those National Parks. Boo! I was invited to a cool work conference in Anchorage Alaska in late June, and after the conference I would really really really like to try and see Denali if at all possible. I will only have 2 - 2 1/2 days. Aside from the short time-frame, I will be all by myself. Also, I have two legs and can walk, but 'wilderness survival,' is not exactly something I have any mastery off. Any general advice, specific advice, or help would be appreciated. [more inside]

On May 8th NYC will start enforcing rules that will effectively ban performers from Washington Square park and most areas of the other parks. If I get a minute or three to speak at a hearing about this (first is 5/1/2013) I'd like to enumerate the films and TV shows that have NYC Park performers, and also performers who got their start busking in NYC. What should be on the list?

In a week I'll be attending a big family event all the way down in Houston, Texas. The main family hotel is the Hilton and most events will be happening in the Galleria mall. I know I'm going to need an escape from all the intense family time, but I won't have a car and I'm low on non-family-time funds. I haven't been back to Houston almost at all as an adult. Is there anywhere nearby or in the mall that I can visit to regain a little calm or find a little funky charm to distract myself? [more inside]

A friend of a friend is a painter in New York state involved in a project aimed at building parks aimed at improving communication between refugees and citizens.
