How can I find parking in New York from Tuesday to Friday next week? Ideally it would be on Upper West Side Manhattan and not very expensive, but I could park farther afield. [more inside]

Hi, i'm looking for a place to keep a rental car in or around New York City. My friends {travelling from toronto} and i will be staying at a hostel on 891 Amsterdam Ave and will be staying arriving Friday, overnight Friday and Saturday, leaving early sunday. [more inside]

parking meters and nyc. the law says 15 ft but lots of people park closer than that. is there a rule of thumb for this kind of thing? how close is too close? i live in brooklyn if that makes a difference.
