So, it's time to paint my 100 year old house in Portland. How to choose colors? Are there any good online resources, in particular image galleries of homes painted specific colors? (i.e., "this 1925 craftsman is painted Benjamin Moore 741 Eggplant, with trim colors 219 Cream Soda and 987 Driftwood Sand")

Help me identify a painting I saw, loved, and forgot... A group of "bohemians" are eating/drinking/sitting under a bridge... there may or may not be a bonfire... it may or may not be night... I use the word "bohemian" because it has stuck in my mind... I don't know whether that's part of the title, whether the painting is German, or whether it just struck me as abstractly "bohemian" - I had just become an artist :> - I saw it in a museum, most likely in NY, San Francisco, or London - sorry for the slight reeds of info - anything sound familiar to anyone?

I'm looking for an American illustrator from the 1940s/50s who painted detailed, photorealistic, optimistic visions of the future, often with scientific explanations of how and why things would pan out this way.

My grandmother just gave me an
old framed print of a 1903 painting entitled "Summer-Girl" by a James Arthur. I haven't had any luck finding out who Mr. Arthur was, but he seems to have been a capable artist and popular enough to have prints made of his work. There's a torn look to the top of the print, as though it were ripped from a book of prints, but I can't find any info about that book or where the image comes from. If anyone knows more about James Arthur, this picture or his other work, I would be most grateful. Thanks!

I live in Madison WI and am looking to move to a larger city, under the impression that being in a larger city will provide me with more exposure and greater opportunities. I was thinking of moving to the outskirts of Chicago because it's close to my family in Madison and I love it there. I also miss Denver CO where I was born, but am unsure what kind of an art community it has. Does anyone know what cities are best for making a living as an artist? I have a degree in illustration but am also trying to get into gallery shows as well if that helps. Thank you very much for any advice.

How do I find out who owns this painting?
I would like to use Thomas Gotch's
"The Child Enthroned" to illustrate an article in a scholarly publication. I need to get a good b/w reproduction of it and permission to publish worldwide in print and online. The trouble is, I can't work out where it is, and so don't know who to write to for permission etc.
I've tried ARTSTOR and google, but am not getting anything - how do art historians go about sourcing material like this?
Given that it's on wikimedia commons, do I even need to?

I'd thought it was a Goya, but the (self?) portrait I'm looking for isn't turning up amongst his collected works. The striking feature of the Renaissance-y painting is the joyous, somewhat impish expression of the subject.

I seem to remember reading somewhere, or possibly listening to a story on NPR, which talked about Norman Rockwell being a subversive artist. The tone was of a researcher having talked to his contemporaries and concluding that Rockwell was in a way being ironic or sarcastic in his paintings. I also vaguely remember hearing/reading that there were small clues in some of his paintings indicating this. Any help finding more information on this?

I'm building my friend a diorama (for lack of a better word) for Christmas, and I need suggestions on models.
I've picked out this pretty
bad assed dwarf (please don't buy out the remaining stock, I need to order it tonight still). Now I need to find something suitably awesome for it to be fighting.
Any suggestions you have would be awesome.
I also need to find a kick butt female dwarf, but all the minis I've found so far are either 90% breast, or awfully bad looking.
