My late grandfather painted an interpretation of one of Maurice Utrillo's depictions of the "Maquis" of Montmartre, in Utrillo's time a very poor area of the well-known Paris neighbourhood. Which Utrillo work did my granddad use as a blueprint, and where exactly was Utrillo's vantage point? [more inside]

$500 to spend on original art; where do I do that? I want to buy art for my home; specifically oil or watercolor paintings. I do not want to buy prints. I want to see the brush strokes. I would rather purchase in person. I am in the Phoenix AZ area. Feel free to list websites also.

What's the next best thing to having an original Van Gogh? What's the third best thing etc? Are there reproductions that look almost identical in every respect? Or to put the question another way, what's the best I could get for under $2000 if I wanted a Starry Night (or any other priceless painting) hanging on my wall?
