Would it be weird if I painted three out of five upstairs rooms the same soft green color, if they were given different treatments?

I want to paint my house interior trim a neutral/white color that will complement a wide range of wall colors in different rooms. How do I select from the gazillion whites out there?

Just bought my first home! Looking for resources for masculine painting and decorating examples/tips. I have scanned through the old posts on decorating/painting and have found them either too feminine or with old/broken links.

I want to fill my living space with art. Looking for: oversized posters and prints with high quality and reasonable cost, original work by fringe/unknown artists, and objects that could be hung like art (tapestries, quilts, etc.).

Does anyone have any recommended interior painters in the GTA? Specifically, not that expensive, fairly quick but do a decent job (standard fare I'd imagine).

I want to paint one of the walls in my bedroom so that it gives the impression of flowing or moving water. The idea is to give a kind of mountain stream effect by:
*putting river rocks along the edge of the wall by the floor
*by making a small floor indoor water fountain with the same rocks for the middle of the wall.
How can I get this effect on the wall?

I have a vision for decorating my bathroom. It sort of involves an amateurish take on trompe-l'oeil -- I know I've seen it before, but I can't think of where. I'm hoping the Hive can put me on the right path to creativity.

HomeImprovementFilter. Also, RiskOfBrainDamageFromPaintFumesFilter. I am purchasing two unfinished wood bookcases, and plan to paint them a glossy red. However, they are so heavy that once I get them delivered (4th floor walkup) I'll need to paint them in my apartment. I'm afraid that painting them in the apartment might be dangerous, fume-wise.

We found
the house, and we'll be painting before we move in. I'm looking for a good reference book or website that covers wall treatments, painting in general, and color effects.
