I'm looking for interesting French and German Facebook pages to seed my FB feed and keep it from being so boring. [more inside]
Sorry for super-inarticulate title. There are web services that will automatically (or on schedule) check web pages, download web pages, push buttons on web pages, etc, and manipulate the result in various ways (e.g. save to dropbox). Anybody know what I'm talking about? [more inside]
Looking to set-up a simple five question poll for my business. I would like the insight but can see by past visits most facebook "friends" will not click a link through to a separate page. I am not personally on facebook so I can't look for a poll I have received in the past to use. It seems so simple yet my five hours of heavy lifting haven't resulted in what am looking for... Thank you in advance! [more inside]
My daughter would like a diary or journal like Anne Frank had. It is red plaid, with a lock and she would preferably like the pages lined. [more inside]
If I'm on my workstation at the office, using Pages through iCloud.com on a web browser, how likely is it that my IT department can see what I'm typing? I'm fairly sure they can see that I'm on iCloud.com using Pages if they look. But can they see the text I'm typing into a Pages document? [more inside]
What is the best resource on layouts in webpages, specifically with the use of CSS and other web technologies? This has always been something that's been tricky for me and I'm wondering if there's something out there that really sums it up well.
I'm trying to make a 24x36" poster from some Excel tables. They're somewhat complex -- half-finished example here (Flickr link). I exported PDFs from Excel and used Inkscape to arrange them. But Inkscape can't handle this much stuff at one time without becoming unusably slow. How can I arrange the layout while keeping everything vector? [more inside]

I use Pages on an Ipad Mini: yesterday I found that all of my documents had suddenly disappeared - Pages was just showing 'no documents'. All the software is up to date, but there have been no major changes or traumatic events recently. There were about a dozen documents, mainly very small but a couple of large ones. What I typically do is switch Word documents over from a PC via Google Drive in order to fiddle with bits of drafting while on the train. I therefore have recent copies of everything, so the actual loss is merely a little irritating; but I don't want it happening again. Any ideas about what could have caused this?
I'm having problems with the way WORD for iPAD interprets my highlighting passages of a document... [more inside]
What do the numbers on copyright pages mean? Like for example these: 29 28 27 26 25 24 23 22 21
I'm writing a book, and I just got the following task from my editor: get a sizable (50+) list of high profile people who have written blurbs or reviews for similar books, and get their mailing addresses. Here's the kicker: I'm not supposed to contact them directly, unless I already know them personally. So! What's the best way to do this? I hear there are search engines that charge a monthly fee for this kind of information, but I'm having a hard time finding out which ones are good and which are scams. I am interested in looking at books with cut-outs in their pages. Can you recommend some good ones? I am especially excited by the possibility of intricately cut shapes in pages. I know of the Tree of Codes by Jonathan Safran Foer, which has words die-cut out on every page. Are there other, even more elaborate, examples of books with holes in the pages?
Is there a way one can prevent people sharing a Facebook page's photos on your newsfeed -- either using Facebook's native settings or a Firefox extension or Greasemonkey userscript? I'm trying to weed out the memes and sassy e-cards. Can I block the pages like I would a person? [more inside]

Adobe InDesign CS4: I've got a very large document, divided into sections (chapters). Currently, there are section markers on various pages, with each section defined by a labelled submaster (so I can see from the Pages panel where each section begins and ends). When I add content to various sections, the section markers no longer align as the pages reflow (because the markers are attached to the actual page numbers and not the content). How can I fix this so that adding content to sections continues within the submaster style / section marker for that section and not reflow over the pages?

Why is Pages (iWork) periodically not letting my enter text unless I click away from my program to my desktop (or other open program) and then back to Pages?
When using Pages (iWork) on my iMac, every few minutes it locks up and will not let me type anything on the the page. If I click outside of the program (my desktop, or another open program window) then click back to the document, it works again. Why? [more inside]

iWork question: When exporting my document to PDF in Pages '09, the resulting text quality is really poor for the regions that are set in 8pt Helvetica Neue. If I do a Print->Save as Postscript, then open that in Finder and save as PDF, the quality is fine. Is there any way to get Pages to just do this properly? [more inside]

I need a theme for a new Wordpress site I'm making about hot springs in Japan. I have a large Bento database of over 200 location with reviews, pictures, addresses, types of baths, and so on... I've found a way to automatically turn the CSV file that Bento makes into the pages I want... I just need a template to put those pages into. Something simple and more geared to hosting static pages rather than a blog. I've spent hours searching through all of these theme websites only to get confused in the 1,000s of choices. So I'm asking you, the MiFi community, to choose for me. Thanks! [more inside]

I manage the Facebook page for our company and was recently prompted by Facebook to add a personal profile in order to manage the page. Now when I share items from other sites, they're posted on my profile page rather than our organization page. How do I fix this? [more inside]
I've recently changed my word press theme. I have four static pages on the site with links to them on the top of every page. But when I changed themes, I lost a navigational link to my blog. Now the only way to navigate to my blog from a static page is to click on the name of the blog in the header. This isn't obvious to a user so my question is: how do I create a blog link adjacent to the static page links on the top of every page?

There's an interview on a news site which I want to present (in its entirety) for my blog readers, but with certain passages highlighted by me. I don't want to violate copyright, so I won't publish a doctored version directly on my blog. Is there technology that lets one "mark up" third party web pages and present them as-is (i.e. no need for further collaboration) to an audience? Or is this just wishful thinking? :)
I have a large number of iWork Pages files that I would like to convert to MS Word format. Is there a way to do this that is easier/more expedient than opening each one individually in Pages and saving it as a Word file? [more inside]
