I'm moving into a house that is almost entirely 2 prongs. Sure there are 3->2 prong adapters. But is there a safer way to use these outlets without tearing up the walls? Are there any relevant safety gadgets out there?

I am thinking about putting in a new outlet with some built in USB chargers where I usually charge my devices. Is this a good idea? Also, I have heard there is a huge difference in quality in these things but I have no idea how to figure out what to get. Anybody have any advice?
Here's the thing: I am a young adult who for the majority of his life has been intellectualising because he is fascinated by what he learns. However more and more I have been wishing I had a creative outlet, artistic or otherwise. [more inside]
I'll admit it, I buy a lot of clothes off the sale rack or at outlet stores. Too often, though, I bring home what I think is a great value only to discover, after wearing and/or washing said item, quality problems I didn't see in the store. Things like knits that are twisted and don't lie flat, shirt hems that are hopelessly contorted once they've been laundered, or buttonholes that quickly ravel beyond repair. I know these sorts of problems are inevitable given the state of clothing manufacture, but that doesn't mean I have to buy these "troubled" items. So, savvy shoppers of MeFi, what should I be looking for? What tells you to steer clear of a garment no matter how much you like it? Is there a secret code on the hang tag that everyone but me knows about? C'mon, please share your secrets.
I'm building a headboard and want to install power outlets. I like this little round pod that seems designed for my purpose with three plugs and two USB ports - but it is significantly more than I'd planned to spend. It also flips over, which I don't need. I've been hunting around for other similar things that don't flip at a more economical price but haven't found anything. Any insights from those with superior google-fu? Thank you!
In my kitchen, I have a plug that is about 7 feet from the floor, near the ceiling. It's directly above the electric heating unit, but doesn't appear to be controlled by said unit. The plug is recessed, but other than that looks to be a standard three prong outlet. It's live and works okay, but it's so far off the floor it's made me curious. Plug

Please help me understand this bizarre home electrical-wiring problem, and how to fix it. I've got a mid-50s house. I wanted to put an outlet into the second bathroom, which has none, and it looked like the easiest way to do that would be to replace a wall switch with a combination switch/outlet (specifically, this one). Our bathroom has a GFCI combo switch/socket where the switch is hooked up to the bathroom fan/light. It's wired downstream of another switch controlling the vanity fixture, and set up so that the socket is only hot when the switch is on. This makes it suboptimal for, say, charging an electric razor or toothbrush overnight, because that means leaving the fan on. What's the best way to change this? [more inside]

Are there power outlets on International United Airlines flights? My mother is wanting to be able to charge her laptop on a plane ride to Bejing, and wants to know if she is able to either plug her laptop in on the flight, or bring a cigarette lighter power inverter in order to charge it. Today the top half of a regular wall outlet stopped working. No pulling or pushing of plugs was involved, and the bottom half still delivers electricity without problems (AFAIK). As the bottom half is still powered, it doesn't appear to be a switch or fuse issue (None are tripped). How would this happen, and how difficult a repair is this likely to be? Is it likely a problem simply with the outlet itself, or the wiring in the wall?
