I have a Gmail account and a university email account (IMAP), both configured through OSX's Mail (the IMAP is only for sending mail; all incoming mail comes through the Gmail account). Lately, none of my email has been showing up in Mail (I know this because I've started keeping Gmail Notifier on the menubar as a double-check). It's not just that it takes a while to collect; it just never actually appears in my Mail.app inbox. I've double checked all my settings against Google's instructions, and even removed and re-added the mailbox.
Any ideas as to what could have gone wrong and how I could fix it?

Is there a way to quickly switch between audio outputs in OS X? I have speakers set up through a Griffin iMic, and I also have headphones that I plug into my iBook's headphone jack. Sometimes I like to be able to quickly switch from one to another. Currently I have to go to the sound preference pane choose from my options there. Obviously this isn't an enormous pain in the ass, but it would be nice if I could map it to a keystroke or something.
I have Quicksilver and have fiddled with it a little, but if there is a way to make it do what I want, I can't figure it out.

Is there any way in OS X Tiger to create a Smart Folder of movies (mostly .avi) with the condition "Play Count Is...", as in iTunes? I'd like to make an "unseen movies" folder. This is very easy to do in iTunes, but I don't seem to see such an option in the Finder. [more inside]

How do I set up VLC to become the default player in OS X Tiger? I've tried right clicking a file and selecting "VLC" then clicking "always use this program", but it seems to only make that association for the particular file, not for all of that type (.avi and .wmv, in this case). I know how to do this in Windows, but it seems to be trickier on a Mac. Or maybe I'm just stupid.
