My sister has used a brand new 13" MacBookPro (w/ Lion) for several weeks, replacing her 4-year-old 15" MBP (upgraded to Snow Leopard). She's finding that, over the course of a day, the machine seems to dramatically slow - to the point where it seems much slower than her old machine.

Lion upgrade for Macbook Pro but my laptop is RAID formatted - how can I upgrade to Lion, keep my documents/music/applications, and get the full features of Lion (which I can't do with a RAID formatted drive)? Am I doomed to format and do a clean install? Can I without the Snow Leopard DVD?

In Snow Leopard (10.6.7), I changed my UID while logged in as the administrator. When I rebooted, a bunch of stuff changed and a lot of my settings were lost. It says I am the admin, but I can't make any changes or set any permissions.

I'm preparing to update my MacBook Pro's operating system from Tiger (10.4.11) to Snow Leopard (10.6.3). I've got the computer in front of me, and the installation disk's right here, too. What do I need to do other than just put the disk in and go?

Yes, I've tried forcing an unexpected reboot, but I can't access Google, Gmail, or Twitter. Weirdly, Microsoft.com, Hotmail, Facebook, and Bing (and obviously AskMe!) all load with no problem whatsoever. And it's only affecting this computer (the only OS X machine) on the network!

Bizarre OSX Snow leopard problem. MBP unibody, 3.06 core2 duo. 8 GB ram. 500 Gig 5400 RPM drive. OSX 10.6.2
Starting about four weeks ago, my system slowly spins out of control - dock/finder/force quit become some of the first apps to fall. This ends in a freeze - UI responsive (mouse, some window movement) with the eventual need to force restart (holding down the power button) It's so bad that I'm constantly running the Console and Activity Monitor to see if I can find some clues.

Got a new macbook pro... turned it on, went through all the user account setup questions, and then I decided to re-partition the hard drive and re-install OS X. After doing so, the macbook *still remembered my user account info* from the 1st setup. How is this possible?

I've been debating with myself for the last week or so about which Mac I should buy and when I should buy it. My brain could use a break from the back and forth, and that's why I'm asking for help.
