Please help me run OS 9 on my desktop

I'm feeling nostalgic after having gotten this to work, and I was wondering if it's possible to make the OS 9 "Classic Environment" run in a separate window within OSX. I have two monitors, and I think it'd be neat if on one side I could have the old-timey OS 9—its own hard drive and desktop image and everything—running in its own, separate window, without running an emulator. I'm not really sure how to google for this (and I have been trying) because everything I'm finding is about running Basilisk II and the like to emulate an older system.

I'm talking about the Classic environment that's already on my G5, running in its own window. Is this possible? Thanks!

Cheap (and out-of-) date HTML editor?

HTML editor for Mac OS 9 (not Classic): I build and maintain websites for a couple of my clients, one of whom is a musician who would like to be able to edit one page of her site to post her upcoming performances. She knows a little bit of HTML, so I'm not too worried about her making a mess. She wants something very simple and free (of course).

Is there anything out there that runs on OS 9 (not Classic – she has an older G3 PowerBook running 9.2)? Ideal would be a WYSIWYG tool like NVU (didn't find a port for OS 9), with built-in FTP. Next best would be something like TextWrangler that allows one to edit files directly on the server (is there an old copy of BBEdit Lite for OS 9 anywhere? Does it have built-in FTP?).

My client kind of balks at having to use multiple apps to maintain the page, and I balk at setting up a CMS for such a simple site.

Thanks in advance!

What is the best browser to use to access Gmail from a Mac running OS 9? I have all kinds of weird behaviours with I.E., Opera, and Netscape. I assume it is related to JavaScript. Opera works the best, but not great. Any suggestions?

In with the old

How can I convert Mac OS9 sound files to mp3 etc? I have a bunch of sound files in pre-OSX format, i.e. the old "Sound File" format that you manipulated using the old Font/Sound Mover desk accesory. In the OSX Finder they preview with a "Play Sound" button and play OK, but they won't import into iTunes and they won't open in Quicktime Player.

Searching in Apple discussions or Apple support draws a blank.

Factory-themed OS 9 game?

Back in my OS 9 days, I played a game in which you controlled a factory. Raw materials would come out of a pipe somewhere, and you had to control the conveyor belts, chutes, and other machines in the factory to make a certain quota of items by the end of the day. Incorrectly made items, of course, were deducted from your score. Can anyone else remember this game, and (even better) tell me where to find it?

Anyone ever use QuicKeys for OS9? I am trying to figure out if there is a good way to fake it into using variables, possibly via AppleScript. I am using QuicKeys to do some really repetitive text stuff in a program lacking very good text tools. It would be really handy to be able to use pretty standard loops where the counter was available. I also want to be able to highlight text - I think I might be able to do this in AppleScript, but I am not sure.

I can't access photos that are on a 5.2Gb DVD-RAM disc. I had burned them on using OS9 (I believe) and am now using OSX 10.4. I am using a G4 (AGP graphics) and it just doesn't recognize the disc. It does however recognize a 2.6 single-sided disc. Any help?

Installing OS9

Installing OS9 "Classic" in the OSX environment. I'm going to have one chance to load OS9.2 on a computer for a co-worker this afternoon. She currently has OSX, but I'm not sure exactly which version (probably pretty up-to-date). She says that she has tried to load it but has "run into problems". I know this is a vague. But here's what I want to know: For those of you who have done this, is it typically easy? Is there something I need to know about this process, or should it just be a matter of sliding the CD into the tray and following the clicks? I wanted to ask before I went over there to try it because it has to be done today (for reasons that go beyond the scope of this question).

Where to find legitimate MacOS 9.x licenses for sale

Who sells legitimate, licensed copies of MacOS 9.x anymore? I have a client with lots of early iMacs (CRT-based) and they want to know how much it will cost to 'modernize' them all with Mac OS 9.2.x, more RAM, and larger hard disks. I'm creating two options for them -- a 'band-aid' solution for the short term and a more-expensive 'real' solution for the long term (new hardware, OS X upgrades for applications and server applications, etc.)

I need a source who sells OS 9 to finish my quote.

When will Apple stop supporting OS9?

As a longtime Mac user, I still depend on several OS9 applications for my work. I've heard, though, that Apple's new Macs will stop supporting OS9, which is bad news for me.

My goal is to buy the last PowerBook that rolls off the assembly line that still supports OS9 - this way, my OS9-friendly Mac will last as long as possible.

My question: can anyone tell me when Apple is making the changeover to OS9-less Macs?

Is there a way to connect an iMac running Tiger with a G4 running OS 9.2 via firewire so I can transfer files from my old system to the new one?
I need help with my parent's iBook (OS 9.2). They want wireless internet but there's no PC-card slot, nor an "under the keyboard" option. There is a USB port. Anybody know of a $20 USB-adapter that will work with OS 9. I already know about the AeroPad, but that sucker is $70! Does anybody know of a cheaper option? I'd be willing to go to $30 or $40. There are a vast array of little sticks for PCs. Has anybody here used one with a Mac on OS 9. I'm happy to download patches / drivers / etc. And I don't care what the box says, I just want this to work.

Can I automate the creation of PDFs from a large number of Word documents?

Acrobat Filter. In Mac OS 9.2, I regularly create a large number of PDFs from Word files using Distiller 5.0. The problem is, I do this for 30 large files every 10 days, and must manually first create .ps files, and then distill them. The process takes more than 1 hour, during which I must open Each Word file to .ps "print" it. Short of buying a new copy of Acrobat for $300 and/or an OS X computer, is there any way to automate this process?

Question number 9798

So. I've finally upgraded from OS9x, and I'm now using Panther... but I have no idea how to migrate my IE5 bookmarks, my Eudora e-mail and contact stuff, or my Palm contacts, calendar, memos, and the like. I know items like this have been asked, but I've not had any luck with Google.
