I have a windows laptop with only 128G SSD hard drive, which is not partitioned, only with one partition C: .
I want to install Linux aside from the original windows 7 so I can have double OS. There are about 15G empty space I gues it's enough. I think I need at least two partitions in order to do this.
So I went to Computer Manage storage trying to shrink the C:, however, it shows 0 shrinkable space. Why is this?
Should I run Disk Defragment? Anyone can help me out? And it's appreciated if you can give me some detailed step by step instructions, ie, how to mount partitions.
I'm a newbie to linux and what I'm trying to install is elementary OS Luna. if you can share with me some introductory articles on the basics of the system adminiatraion, OS install stuff it will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much!

Yes, I've tried forcing an unexpected reboot, but I can't access Google, Gmail, or Twitter. Weirdly, Microsoft.com, Hotmail, Facebook, and Bing (and obviously AskMe!) all load with no problem whatsoever. And it's only affecting this computer (the only OS X machine) on the network! [more inside]

I decided to test my website in Lynx for OS X, but for some reason it loaded a version from May. Now, whenever I load the front page from any other browser on my computer, it displays that old version. This doesn't happen when I view it from my phone or any other computer, so it's definitely my computer, not my site. But I can't imagine what it could be. Anyone know what I might have done? Install Linux or windows without a cd drive or usb just direct access to the hard drive. I have an old cf-29 toughbook by Panasonic that I've had for years. I'm trying to resurrect it and for the life of me cant remember my own cmos password. Aside from possibly nuking the bios password which will be near impossible due to the NATO standards this notebook was built to. I was thinking I would just try to install an OS directly to the hard drive and simply transplant it back into the toughbook. [more inside]

Hi there - I am about to upgrade a Black Macbook laptop running Tiger OS X to Snow Leopard (using a $29 Snow Leopard upgrade disk I bought off Amazon.com) (yes, I know this is sort of late in the day). Do you have any tips? Is there anything I should watch out for? [more inside]

Anybody know offhand what the default behavior of running processes in multi-user environments under Mac OS X 10.6.x might be? I suspect that logging in under the other account will suspend the processes active under the first account. Am I correct?

I'm currently running Windows 7 x86 fine and everything runs great. I did however run a routine pc audit with Belarc Advisor
and noticed my PC was "64-bit ready". Here are the details of my dv6700 (dv6780se as stated on the bottom sticker)
--1.67 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo--
--64 kilobyte primary memory cache--
--2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache--
--3072 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory--
System info does state I'm running a 32-bit OS. I have access to a win 7 x64 and would assume a performance increase.
Also HP dropped all support of windows 7 drivers on older machines.

I'm an advanced computer user and would like to know how Windows 7 compares with XP Pro. I'm clinging to the latter like Dagon to an emaciated villager but I know the time will come when I'll have to move on.
Basic info about install size, resource hogging, software compatibility (particularly MS Office versions) and tweakability in terms of Windows' always annoying "security" functions will be greatly appreciated. I have tried Vista, only to run away from it screaming. I'll be sitting round the fire in the trashcan, looking forward to reading your thoughts.

Before my hard drive died and I had to reinstall Tiger, I used to be able to trigger dialogue box buttons (e.g. "Yes" or "No") on my mac by typing the first letter of the option I wanted to choose (e.g. "n"). It doesn't work anymore and I have to navigate with the mouse and click on things. How can I activate this feature?
