Opinions on Dremel Multi-Max?

Opinions on the Dremel Multi-Max? Seems like it would do what I need (awkward sanding) but it also seems gimmicky. Also, there are similar tools form other companies - are they any different?

Whither Pacifica?

Does anyone have anything to say about the Chrysler Pacifica? It seems to be a really good fit for our growing family's needs, but searching online for reviews has turned up polarized opinions. It seems they either last forever or fall apart as you drive off the lot.

We're looking at 2006 AWD Touring models with low miles.

I am aware there was a recall on some during this model year, and also see a lot of complaints about ABS sensors breaking.

What have been the experiences of the hivemind?

The good, the bad, and the ugly

How do you critique a friend's work, without hurting his feelings? A friend of mine showed me two of his films and asked me to give him my honest opinion. This person and I are very close, and I have no problems telling him what's going through my mind, so when he asked me to do this for him, I said sure. I told myself that I wasn't going to tell him anything if it didn't live up to my expectations (he's a very talented and gifted writer, which makes it even harder for me to not hold him up to a much higher standard), so when I saw his first movie, I was really happy that he'd done such a good job, at least in my estimation, and I let him know about it in no uncertain terms. The only problem is, I think I did the same thing with the second one, only the other way around. I didn't like it as much as the first one, and even though I knew better, I told him what I thought he could've done differently with the movie (although not in any way that might've hurt his feelings, again, in my opinion).

He was appreciative of the honesty, and I was careful not to have crossed the line too much, but I do feel like I may have done something that I shouldn't have. (He's not someone who's influenced by what other people think of him, he's very hard-headed, but he did trust me enough to ask me my opinion of what I thought of his work, and now I feel like I may have betrayed him.) Did I betray him? Was it right of me to tell him what I thought?

How do you tell a friend the truth and still be a good friend?

The Greatest Story Every Told

Could you publish a book out of Yahoo Answers / Groups etc. and make it successful? I think it would be wicked to give one of those sites or the Green a good editorial scrub and create a tome filled with great nuggets of fact, reality, belief, and opinion. How would you structure the business? If something like AskMefi was a book, what chapters / topics would you cover? Is it a viable business model to compensate communities / web site owners in exchange for the rights to publish their intellectual property on paper?

like, do you like, need to feel, like *liked*?

Do you need to feel liked?

I started this AskMeFi question out of some social anxiety, about a “party” I’m throwing next weekend, and worrying that it’ll flop, no one will show up, or it will be boring and lame, and maybe I should just make up an excuse and cancel it. I’m in a new city and in a new grad program. While I hate small chit-chat and would rather have deeper conversations at people, I seem to suck at this, and revel in the safety of smalltalk.

This is mostly because I fear not being liked. So I ask you all - do you have this need to feel liked? Do you care? If you don’t care, did you come to this attitude, or have you had it all along?

Why might I, or you, or anyone care about what other people think of us? How might I learn to relax (say, without alcohol, or drugs)? What helps you not be so concerned with needing to be liked?

What do you think of used Infinity vehicles?

Would I be making a mistake or a great choice to buy a 2002 Inifinity I35 that I only plan to keep and finance for 36 months? I am considering the purchase of a 2002 Infinity I35 with about 75k miles. Does anyone have any experience with this make/model? Are they expensive to maintain? Lots of problems or relatively few compared to other vehicles you've owned?

I only plan to finace and own it for 3 years (36 months) and then trade in for something else, so my only wish is that I only have to pay for minor repairs in the 3 years I own it - perhaps less than $500/yr. I drive about 15k miles a year, so it will be a little over 105k miles when I get rid of it.

I've only seen really good reviews of this brand, so I'm a bit skeptical.

Your opinions and experiences are appreciated.

D.C. versus Boston

I'm interested in comparing life in D.C. to Boston. I love Boston but the housing costs are outrageous and the winters are much too long. Any thoughts on how these two cities compare?

JoniMitchellFilter.

Tell me what Joni Mitchell means to you. This isn't an objective question, really, just a matter of personal curiosity.

I've read just about everything extant on Joni Mitchell, and I'm not really old enough to have any sense of how she fit into the times in which she was at the peak of her artistic and commercial success. (I'm 29.)

The professional reviewers have their say in the history books (hated Hissing of Summer Lawns, loved Blue, ambivalent about Hejira), but I'd like to challenge all the historical assertions in the minds of real folk. Did she stop "speaking" to you personally after Court and Spark? Was Mingus a useless, jazzy abstraction? Did you continue to pay her any attention in the '80s? Was she part and parcel of any particular "scene" in your mind? Did she stand out or blend in? Has she been "bettered" by anyone since?

I'm not terribly interested in more critical analysis, just real thoughts/feelings from people who invested in her music - or who didn't - and why. Stories, thoughts, comments, if you please.

Why do people dislike Paul McCartney so much? Most of the hits were written by him, the much acclaimed albums were mostly his doing, and he had the better singing voice. Why is Lennon praised and McCartney dissed so much?
