How do I go about releasing a card game into print-on-demand format whil

Question: how do I go about releasing a card game into print-on-demand format while retaining commercial rights? (I want to make it available for hobbyists and players, but don't want a company to scoop my design and sell it without attribution). I make card games as a hobby, and want to release them into the wild (so the term goes). I just don't want to yield commercial rights, since there's nothing worse than watching someone pull a Thomas Edison on your Tesla-esque ideas. Some people suggested looking at DrivethruCards.com and a few other places (Cards Against Humanity uses a free-license concept I'd love to know more about).

How can we trust open source software?

Open source software is considered trustworthy because anyone can validate the source code and hold the developer accountable. Usually developers will also make compiled binaries available for convenience. How can we know that these binaries are compiled from the same source code the developer published, and not a malicious variant of it? [more inside]

Open-source front end and commercial back-end? Is this feasible?

I have written software that I would love to make open source. However, I would like to take the back-end, the core of the application, and sell Android and iOS implementations of it while keeping the front-end for PC development open. Is this possible? Practical? Even worth considering? [more inside]

Link to OS project to "tether" iPhone?

I recall seeing an open-source project for the iPhone which allowed you to share your iPhone's internet connection with a computer, i.e. "tether". It's not as easy as, um, "proper" iPhone tethering. Also, you must a paid-up iPhone Developer to compile and install it to your phone. But otherwise, yay. But I can't find it anymore. Believe me, I have googled. Ring a bell for anyone?

How to control printing expenses in an open computer lab?

How can I limit printing quantities on a quasi-public networked printer? I run a small nonprofit computer center with 10 networked computers (8 XP, 2 OSX). I need to control ink & paper costs, but want people to be able to print free or low, low cost. When I was at Uni, we had a system where all users had to buy tokens at 5 cents a page.
