The aroma and flavor that garlic and onion in any form yield stay in my system way longer than reasonable. I need to be able to eat these two foods to help my immune system and my sinuses function better, but I can't stand the aftermath anymore (and now that I have a boyfriend again, I'm extra sensitive to yucky breath and stuff). What can I eat or drink to counteract these side effects so I can keep onions and garlic in my diet?

Sometimes when I cut a red onion I will see that part of the skin (underneath the flakiest outer layers), usually near the root, looks different from the rest of the skin. It's not red, and shiny, it's yellow and duller, and it and feels a touch softer than the surrounding skin. Is this rot or mold, or something more innocuous?

My wife has temporarily cut out alliums from her diet. No garlic, onion, leek, scallion, shallots, etc. Also eggs. And broccoli, but that's not quite such a big deal. She isn't the sort to have lots of sandwiches and prefers hot meals. How the heck do I cook for her?

I made too much sour cream and onion dip for a party and I don't want to waste it, but also I don't want to keep eating it with chips. More advanced cooks, is there any other way I can reuse (some of) it without somehow ruining the sour cream and making a disgusting gloppy mess? All I can think of is spreading it on toast, so other suggestions would be great. Ingredients listed inside. Thanks!

Say I use half an onion. The only available storage option for the other half is to wrap it in cling film. Is it more wasteful and or/environmentally damaging to use some plastic to save the onion or to just throw the remaining onion away?

It used to be that pretty much any old deli in town had those classic NY onion rolls, but lately they seem to have become increasingly hard to find. Are there still places where I can get a nice toasted onion roll with butter for breakfast, especially in the Penn Station area?

Is it worth making Indian food without onions? My husband is on an onion-free diet and I am wondering if I should bother attempting an eggplant bharta recipe this weekened, or if I should forget it and move on to a natively onion-free cuisine.
