Are there any? The only possibilities I can immediately think of are Lawn Bowls and Shooting. And maybe varieties of race car driving (I'm not sure if there's a physical fitness component to this at all?) Is there anything you could say this of that IS a more physical sport?
Has anyone seen this Olympic weightlifting video? I saw it a few years ago online but it may be older originally (c. 70s?). It showed a weightlifter (an Olympian or other high-level one, I think) "opening the gym" in the morning—turning on the lights, straightening some things, going upstairs, downstairs—all while down in the bottom of the squat position. I.e. Walking like a duck, bunny hopping up and down the stairs, etc. It looked exhausting but he was totally nonchalant about it.
There are summer and winter versions of big sports events such as the Olympics and the X Games. Are there spring and fall-based sporting events too? If not, why not? Are there any sports that are specially seasonal outside summer/winter?
I love the Olympics and would love to watch lots and lots of it, but I don't have time now. My Tivo is just about full. I find NBCOlympics.com baffling. The only videos I see there are highlights. Are there long-attention-span videos of events? For how long will this be available? I'm in the US and I'm a Comcast subscriber.
Where can I go to watch the Team USA and Team Canada games in the Bay Area? Preference for Oakland/East Bay, but I could trek into the city if need be.
Maybe it's just my computer, but NBC's Olympics schedule page is horribly broken for me. I'm looking both for a schedule of what time each event will be streamed live, as well as a schedule of NBC's primetime coverage. Are there any other sites where I can find it -- preferably in plaintext? I'm particularly interested in the figure-skating events, so if there's a site where I can find just those times, that would be helpful too.
Last Olympics there was an FPP linking to a thorough Olympics prospectus. Among other things, it has a condensed three-event-a-day set of viewing recommendations, a per-sport set of athletes and countries to keep an eye on, and bunches of athlete and sport context sprinkled throughout for flavor. I loved being able to tune in to a random event, pull up the prospectus, and quickly find a few sentences/a paragraph that gave me the gist of the narrative/context for that event. Is there an equivalent this year? Failing that, what are other good resources for Olympics viewers this year?
I am a 31 year old adult male and I'd like to start learning the decathlon. I am a complete beginner but I have been athletic my whole life (and briefly played professional soccer 10 years ago), my goal is to score 4000 points. Where does an adult go to begin to study decathlon? I'd like a personal coach, or maybe to join a local high school, college, or masters track team, but I have no idea where to begin. Extra points for any resources in Turku Finland, Columbus Ohio, or Austin Texas. (snowflakes inside) [more inside]
When the Olympics come around, often bars will host viewing events. Are there official rules for how to make this happen? Can any bar with a TV host network viewing or stream from online? Can the bar or organizer publicize it as an Olympics viewing event? Can the organizers broadcast the games and overlay their own commentary? [more inside]
A week or 2 ago, I came across a photo gallery on imgur.com of photos of Brazilian military police using APCs and bulldozers to tear down favela housing in preparation for the World Cup and Olympics. I think I found it via a link from mefi, or possibly reddit. I have searched both sites for it, and done some googling, but I just can not find it. Hope me?
I missed the 2012 Olympics. I've heard there was a great scooter portion. I'd like to see this, but can only find video from within the club that rode. Does anyone know a link to video of the scooter ride from the audience/media viewpoint?

So why no Rolling Stones at the Olympics opening or closing ceremonies? They were willing to reach to Take That and ELO, but not one of the great English bands?
What is the song they play before the medal ceremony begins during the London 2012 Olympics? I'm referring to the rather dreamy song that is played before it turns into the Chariots of Fire theme. Thanks for your help!
In the Olympics, when an American athlete finishes competing, cameras show up in their faces, and the athlete gets interviewed. If they won, then they get to talk about the win. If they lost, then they get to talk about how it felt to lose out there in front of 40 million viewers. Here is the question: What obligation does the athlete have to participate in the interviews? What is it that stops them from saying 'screw this' and skipping the interview? [more inside]
I'm curious about the process of uniform design and selection for the Olympics, specifically the U.S. team (not opening ceremony uniforms), but tidbits from other countries are welcome as well. [more inside]

Have olympic spoilers always been this bad? I'm so so very annoyed to already know the outcome of tonights gymnastics, just like I've inadvertantly known the outcome of almost every event I am interested in so far in these games. Even though I try to avoid the obvious spoiler media outlets, I can't ignore everything; esp not elevator tv's, the radio, or overheard coversations at the cubicle farm. Are the days of sitting on the edge of my seat during the evening broadcast, jumping for joy at an unexpected gold over? Or has it always been this way and I'm just catching up now?

When I go to the NBC Olympics site to log in with my cable package details, the iframe that should show the log in fields (username and password) does not load. This is on a win7 machine with both chrome and FF. The problem does not occur on a different computer on the same network (a macbook running 10.6.8). What setting on my computer seems to be blocking this, and how can I get this frame to load? [more inside]
How can I watch whole Olympic basketball games online? I'm in Australia. Every search I do seems to turn up things that look a little like malware. Live and legal would be my first preference, but I don't mind if I have to download an entire game as an avi and watch it afterwards. Thanks!

I've just booked an international trip with a 3/4-day layover on the way home. Great, I think, I can spend some time in the city, get a cheap hotel, see a few friends for dinner and then get some sleep and a shower before my trip home - easy! Problem: after booking the trip, I realize I will be in London during the Olympics, and hotel prices have accordingly skyrocketed. I am on a grad student budget. Help me find a decent place to stay - ideally not in a shared room - that won't kill my budget? [more inside]
On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being "very safe" and with going-to-11 being "the most crazy," how insane is it to try to get into London from Heathrow to do some light sightseeing on my way back home to the US. I'm paying too much for cable TV that I don't watch, and I am fortunate to have good broadband internet (both from Comcast in the US). There are only a few events my family and I care enough about seeing immediately on TV. The Tour de France and major league baseball are both usually available via internet subscription services.
