Research showing that *any* office rearrangement improves productivity?

Some years ago, I read about a study on workplace productivity, set up to test the effect of a new office layout (or perhaps some other physical feature of work environment). They changed to the new layout, and productivity jumped up. Over the following months, however, productivity tailed off to the original levels. So they changed the layout back to the original one. Again, productivity spiked suddenly and gradually declined back to the baseline. It was concluded that, whatever the relative merits of different office arrangements, the very act of making a change causes a temporary productivity increase. Does anyone know where I can find this study? [more inside]

Calendar Editing and Syncing Between Two Mac Users

I'd like to sync a shared event/appointment calendar with a work colleague, which we both can edit (not just view) on our iMac computers, preferably without having to go to an external website to make edits, or paying for an outside service. Details within. [more inside]

Good balance between monitor and office brightness?

Smart Office Not So Damned Smart?

You know that trend a while back towards 'smart offices'? I think that's what it was called -- you know, when nobody has their own desk, and they just snag their laptop and go sit anywhere and somehow they are magically more creative and productive as a result? I'm having trouble Googling up trip reports: can you help me out with links to stories and research about experiences in implementing it (or your own personal experience)? [more inside]

Adobe Acrobat: Change all links at once?

Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional: I've got a document with several hundred links in it. Right now, they're all invisible; I'd like to change them all to dotted rectangles of a particular color. Is there any way to change the appearance of every link in the document simultaneously? "Make this the default appearance" doesn't do it; it only affects the links you make in the future. Help?

Good heavy-duty file cabinet?

I ordered a HON filing cabinet (four drawer, vertical) and was assured that all HON file cabinets are heavy-duty. However, when it showed up the drawers were all squeaky and flimsy, and one doesn't close properly without being slammed. My question - where can I get a dependably good, heavy-duty file cabinet that rolls drawers in and out smoothly, can take some weight, isn't flimsy, and generally will work well for a long time? I'd prefer four drawer vertical, beige color, standard office metal variety.
