Is there a name for this (awesome) treatment I got at my OBGYN?

At my last annual exam, my OBGYN spent 20 minutes talking to me about how I was doing. We vented about the election, and she asked me about my kids, my marriage, childcare, whether I was getting "me time" and self-care. She seemed really interested in my mental health and even suggested types of therapy to pursue and shared her own coping mechanisms. It was the least bad I'd felt since the election. I'm now remembering that she was like that throughout my pregnancy as well, asking whether I was going to have help after my third child was born, what my plan was, etc. Is there a name for this type of patient engagement? I don't want to try to make bleeding sexy, sorry

For the past ~7 years, I have bled/spotted maybe 75% of the time I have sex. As a single person who has sex with new partners occasionally, this sucks. My OBGYN assures me it's not indicative of any sort of problem other than fragile cervical tissue, but short of putting a towel down every time (ugh), is there anything I can do to make this stop? miscarriage number two. so now what?

This was me. It took months to heal then then a few more to get pregnant again. We knew we were pregnant for basically three days before I realized something was wrong. I feel dismissed and I need to be able to advocate for myself better. I am so full of rage. So- people who have experience more than one miscarriage- what do I need to know? What should I be asking? And hey, if you have any nice success stories of babies after more than one loss, that'll be great. [more inside]

No family doctor; needs an obgyn check up

Where in Toronto can I get my girly parts checked out, if I don't have a family doctor? I have OHIP and have access to the university health centers, although I kinda want to have the check up soon. I've been kind of negligent and haven't gone for a check up in years. I'm 30.

Why do I have chronic vaginal itch? IKYANMD

I have had off and on vaginal itch for 2 years. I am a virgin in my mid twenties and have seen OBGYN many times, I don't have any disease or infection that they could find with urine tests, and from swabbing my vagina. The doctor yesterday said it's probably a skin problem, they just recommended me a 0.5% hydrocortizone cream, which from my understanding only treats the symptoms, and should only be used for a short time. I mostly wear skirts to keep the area dry, and I wear cotton underwear. I shower regularly, and my job is sitting in an office, and I live in a warm city. During my menstruation the itching usually gets more intense. What other things can I try? I just came from seeing a 4th OBGYN who also prescribed me a hydrocortizone cream. Thanks.

What purpose is served by my ob-gyn inserting his finger in my ass during a pap smear?

I went to a new doctor on a recommendation from a friend to get Implemnon (sp?). The ob-gyn performed a pap smear (it's been a year since my last one). At the end of it, he stuck his finger in my ass -- he was feeling my belly at the same time. Why did he do it?
