Pimp my non-oat hot cereal

I love oatmeal. Loooove it. Preferably not instant, almost thick enough to stand a spoon up in, with a sprinkle of fun toppings. CHEAP, low fat, filling, easy, good for you if you lay off the brown sugar. The bad news? Over the last few years I seem to have become allergic to oats (allover itchies and gut churning badness). So, chefs of MeFi, what hot cereal recipe should I turn to which most closely resembles oatmeal, especially in mouth-feel? [more inside]

Do oats, quinoa, flax seeds need to be cooked to gain their nutrients?

Am I gaining all the nutritional value from oats, quinoa, and flax seeds which I've ground fine and stirred into food? Does cooking these foods unlock beneficial nutrients that I'm not getting by simply grinding and eating uncooked? And: How much flax seed daily to get the needed good-guy omega-3 and omega-6 fats from them? [more inside]

make my oatmeal less healthy

The other day, I had a cup of oatmeal from Jamba Juice. The oatmeal was just fine, but what really made it for me was the "brown sugar crumble" that was added. In my quest to create my own, I'm finding a lot of "brown sugar crumble" toppings online, but the recipes I'm finding are for cruble that is spread on top of a dessert and baked at the same time as muffins etc. I'd like to create a pre-made cup of crumble that I can store for a while and just take spoonfuls as needed. Before baking a sheet of crumble without any baked goods, I thought I'd ask if anybody here has a proven method. Can anybody help me out? thanks.

What should I put in my hot water?

My watercooler at work has a hot water feature which I would like to take advantage of. What are the best healthy substantial "meals" that require me only to add hot water? (Relevant info: At a cafe I used to frequent, there were packets of Bear Naked blueberry oatmeal that were outstanding. Now, Bear Naked's site doesn't list this as one of their products. Does this product still exist? I don't like Quaker Oats.)
