I want to donate more in support of Hurricane Sandy, but I'm concerned that while the Red Cross and the NYC Mayor's Fund are probably getting a ton of love, there are other charities in the city that are in dire straights as a result of the hurricane. (Or just in general.) What smaller, local NYC charities need our support the most?

I still have periodic acne breakouts at the age of 24, and now that I have health insurance I want to see a dermatologist. However, there's a million of them in NYC, and I don't have the time to shop around, so I'm considering going with NYC's most heavily advertised doctor,
Dr. Zizmor. Is this a bad idea? Have you or anyone you know ever said,
"Thanks, Dr. Zizmor?" [more inside]

Is it still possible to walk
The High Line? I know
Kottke did it, but I haven't found any more recent accounts anywhere, and I'm concerned that since the High Line has attracted more attention (and federal funding) recently, they may be taking stronger steps to prevent trespassing. Will my trip be ruined?
