I have a VERY small company. We are moving locations. We are going to switch from our PBX system -- as we've shrunk to a point where that makes no sense any more -- to each of us having direct lines on dedicated mobile phones. Can you lend me your ideas? Specific questions inside. [more inside]
I plan to interview Oregon non-profit organizations this year. Not counting Guidestar, I have compiled a list of about 1800 NPs in the state from six other lists (Charity Navigator, nonprofitlist.org, Oregon Department of Justice, Combined Federal Campaign Oregon, Non Profit Association of Oregon and GiveGuide2014). I want to explore the work of some of those little known who never get publicity or don't have a lot of money but have missions worthy of attention. [more inside]
I have about 14 PDF Files with about 400 pages. Each page is an invoice with a number from 1 to 400. Unfortunately, they aren't all in the right sequence. What is the best way to sort them? Is there a way to do this automatically? If not, what other options do I have. The thumbnail view in MAC OS to small to see the invoice number.
My brother was in the Navy when I was very young. In going through his keepsakes after his passing last year I have found a note with some cryptic numbers on it. I need some help with what it means. [more inside]
I would like to setup several toll free numbers and have them routed each to a different phone number. Is there a company you would recommend that could set that up for me, and that will have a caller log feature for each toll free number for when clients call? Thank you.
Hello! I am an animator and would like to use a USB number pad for keyboard shortcuts for better ergonimcs while animating in Photoshop. Is there a way to remap the numbers on the USB number pad to keyboard shortcuts like Command+Z, etc? This nice post explains how to do it for PCs, but I haven't been able to find how to do it for MacBook Pros. Thank you!
Let's say I'm in the USA and I dial the UK emergency number (999), or I'm in the UK and I dial the US emergency number (911) or the European number (112). What happens? [more inside]
I work from home and have an established business phone number that I need to keep. I'd like to port the number somewhere that sends the call to voicemail and return the call with my cell phone. I don't need to call from the office number, just receive voicemails. Do you have any recommendations for services you like that are cheap? I found "parkmyphone.com" which says what I need would be $5/mo plus $20 transfer fee to port the number, but don't know if it is reliable. I don't know anything about Skype or voip solutions. GoogleVoice doesn't allow landlines to be ported into it. If it matters, I have an Android Galaxy S4 with T-mobile for my cell service. Thanks!
I've had my cell phone number for 10 years. My new employer is a large non-profit organization (thousands of employees). They'll buy me a new phone and pay for the service. They won't just reimburse me for my service plan as my last employer did. I don't really want to carry a second phone and have a second plan. It seems that if I want to take advantage of this benefit, I'd need to use the university phone as my primary phone and port my phone number over to the university. I'm trying to figure out if I should do this. [more inside]
I want to do a reverse phone search on a US cell number... In the past I have used intelius.com for this purpose but lately my experiance with them hasn't been very great. How else can I do this? Thanks!

This is probably a question that has been answered before and I am just too panicky to figure it out right now, but what is the best option for saving my US phone number while I am abroad? Is Google Voice a solid option? I leave in two days, I use Virgin Mobile, and I want to save it indefinitely. Additional small side question about Swedish phones (specifically iPhone use in Sweden), but mostly confused about porting a number for usage abroad. [more inside]
First things first: I'm not a stalker and I won't do anything illegal. I've found the person who is almost certainly my birthmother. I need her cell phone number. I believe it's an iPhone. I also have an iPhone, for what it's worth. Please note: this question is not about whether it's a good idea to contact this person. Nor is it about whether I should contact her via an alternate method. [more inside]
Can a transcendental number such as pi, be raised to an irrational, but algebraic power resulting in an algebraic solution? Complex solutions would be acceptable. There might be a quick proof here, or there might not be. - Thanks for any help you can offer answering this! (And I promise that this isn't for a class or anything like that!)

Multiple collection agencies have been calling my house for years asking for some dude we have never heard of. Telling Agency A this doesn't prevent Agencies B, C, D, and so on from calling anyway. The Attorney General told me we're SOL. What can I do? [more inside]
My iPhone 4 was stolen. The police detectives want the IMEI number. I never backed up the phone or synced it to my computer, so I can't access the IMEI through iTunes. I don't have the original packaging. I do, however, have the phone's serial number. Is there a way to somehow use this number to get the IMEI? [more inside]

I used Textfree on my iPad and have a US number. I've since moved to Canada and I'm wondering if my friends in the US will now be charged when they text me? In other words, does it matter where I'm physically located? It's free for me but I'm concerned there might be costs on the other end.

I've ordered a dress on behalf of the wife and it is being made and shipped from the Ukraine. They have given us a tracking number, but I suspect it is an incorrect one: The number supplied starts with RA, then has 9 digits and ends with UA. I've looked at the USPS Track & Confirm page and there is no RA suffix, only RE - and they always end in US, not UA So have I been given bogus info ?

A friend recently had a birthday, but because of her age, they couldn't really fit enough candles on the cake without it becoming absurd, so they represented her age by using the number of candles in the digits of her age—a group of five on the left, three on the right for 53. Is there a name for that kind of representation of a number?
A couple of wannabe college students showed up at my door asking if I would be interested in a $1,500 home security system and lifetime service in exchange for posting a security company sign in my front yard. They left me a card to fill out that asked for all my crucial information, including social security number and date of birth, that had boxes to check for accepting, or rejecting, the promotional offer. The card they left didn't have the name of the alarm company on it, a website address, phone number, nada. What do the guys get out of it? The company pays them $500 toward their tuition for every customer they sign up. What does the company get out of it? Supposedly, free lawn signeage/advertising.

Air Canada WTF? On Tuesday I took a trip from Laguardia Airport to Pearson Toronto to CDG, Paris on Air Canada. From Toronto to Paris, they lost one of my bags, which wouldn't be terrible except said bas contained 1) My only change of clothes for the next 2 weeks 2) My BFs extra heart medication and 3) I'm leaving for Prague in 4 days and there is still no news. Is there anyone I can call or talk to see that I actually get my stuff before I leave France? Kakfaesque detail follows. [more inside]
I'm trying to find part number(s) to repair a sideswiped passenger side mirror on a 2009 Ford Focus. Most of the mirror is intact, so I'd like to replace only the piece that clips the mirror into the holder cavity. If this isn't possible, I'll grudgingly pony up for the whole mirror assembly. Bonus question: is there a place to buy the part in Orlando, FL before Sunday? Thanks!

When I was a child there used to be cryptic messages on BBC Radio Four between the news and weather etc. that were weird and cryptic (as in they shouldn't have been on mainstream radio), but dull - stuff like "Mrs. Smith from Doncaster needs to contact her family in Hull". I have been told they were used for spies to communicate - does anyone know any more about this? I think it's something like those code words on the Tube that get announced if there's something going on. And numbers stations of course!
