Recommendations for specific things on an ongoing Australian vacation.

Asking on behalf of (The Rt Hon.) MP, who currently has spotty internet access while he travels around Australia. Where are the best places to 1) see an improv comedy show in Sydney, 2) see a punk/hardcore show in Melbourne, 3) get to relatively quickly from either of those cities to be able to see the outback (as opposed to the bush, which has already been seen on this trip)? Best things to do in Australia's Blue Mountains?

My boyfriend and I are going with my parents to Australia in June, and my parents have tasked us with finding out things to do for the portion of our trip in the Blue Mountains, which will be in early June. What are your favorite things to do there in the winter? What are some things that would be good for a group of four adults who are not particularly outdoorsy or athletic? [more inside]

Where for a short snowy break in NSW for the winter school holidays? (without the skiing)

I want to take the family somewhere snowy in NSW. We want to do any skiing, just somewhere white for three days or so in the school holidays. Reasonaly cheap (so the ski resorts are out), and preferably a place with a nice fireplace. Any suggestions? Just to be a little more specific, I don't particularly like Jindabyne, and anyway because of the proximity to the ski resorts it seems a bit expensive anyway. Any suggestions from the metafilter crowd?

Electricity theft

Electricity theft. This is particular to NSW Australian law and energy theft. I can't imagine that anyone has experienced it, but on the off-chance and input from other people that have been victims, can you give me some advice? [more inside]
