Got a new harpoon & a clean red bandana. What next?

My nurse, while looking at images of my lungs, said I should start playing a harmonica as preventive medicine. She's a very smart lady, so I got a Hohnrr Special 20 G cheap and am almost able to play single notes moving between all 10 holes. So where to go next? I'll be playing unaccompanied to an audience of livestock and dogs for at least two hours a day and we would like to build up a large enough playlist I don't start to hate the songs I'm playing. Best red wine for everyday drinking

So, I have been hearing that a glass of red wine after dinner is good for health. Also, I like drinking wine but, till now, I have mostly been limited to a glass or so at restaurants. So, I am a novice about wines and don't know much about good wineries or sources. I looked up review sites, but I am not sure which review sites are trustworthy. What would be a good red wine you recommend? [more inside]

Why do some novices resistant to advice & best practices?

Why do some novices disregard advice and/or best practices? What can be done to persuade them to heed general guidelines? I'm an aquarist, and repeatedly I see a significant number of people doing things that will result in the harm or death of their fish, and it's due to well known problems. Yet many novices attempt those things anyway, with predicable results. I'm trying to understand to explore what advice could be given that would change the outcome. [more inside]

Loosening my bobbin tension has no effect. Where am I going wrong?

Novice sewer here and I've got a tension headache. I'm working on piping for some cushions I'm sewing, and just finished ~16 ft worth of it without changing my thread. All my stitches were just fine. When I switched to a different color, I had to increase the needle thread tension to the point of puckering the fabric just to pull up the bobbin thread enough to balance my stitches. Please help. Motivation 10, Experience 0

I've never ice skated in my life. In a week, I'm starting lessons, in the eventual hope of learning how to play hockey and joining a club league down the line. I am 39, 6'3" and around 250 pounds. My exercise regimen is walking/running 4-5 times a week, 3-5 miles at a time. I have questions, as a total novice to on-ice sports of any kind:
  1. What is going to frustrate me the most?
  2. What is going to hurt the most (and how do I treat it?)
  3. What's the most important thing to remember, so I don't get frustrated?

What are the best resources for computer novices?

What are the best resources for computer novices? I often find myself in the position of helping friends and family figure out how to operate their computers (typically Windows XP or Vista, but OS X tips are welcome too.) While I realize there's no substitute for face-to-face instruction, my time is not infinite and I'd like to be able to set them up with some bookmarks or documents that will give them guidance when I'm not around. Novice Snowboard Costs, Zero To Sixty?

How much should I budget to both equip myself and my wife for snowboarding and get us enough instruction so that we enjoy it? I mean, we own nothing with the possible exception of some gloves we could use, and we want to get ourselves outfitted and capable of boarding happily all day at places like Heavenly or Whistler. What will this cost, or, barring that, what do we need to budget for?
