I have a bunch of notes in digital audio format. Is there any mobile device that would allow me to mark certain spots in the audio so I could quickly review those passages later?
I'm also open to suggestions on ways to structure annotated project notes.

TypeMyNotesPleaseFilter: I periodically find myself in need of this service, which obviously must exist, yet I cannot find. I have a bunch of handwritten notes, not written with any kind of fancy smartpen, but rather, just pencil on paper. I would like to be able to scan said notes myself and send them to some kind of service wherein I can pay someone to type them up and send me back a decently formatted copy with a turnaround time of 12-24 hours. Who do I ask to do this?

I use Outlook 2003 in the office. If I receive an email from someone outside the company that uses Lotus Notes and I try to forward that email, the body of the email is stripped automatically when it is forwarded. Has anybody ever heard of this?

Where can I find clear, accurate, small sound files of different musical notes. I don't mind if they're on a piano or a guitar or anything else. But I need a separate recording of each note through one octave, around about middle-C would be ideal but not necessary. (i.e. 12 files, each with a different note on them: A natural, A sharp, B natural etc.)

One thing: Why is it I come up with all these ideas in the shower. What about the shower make it easier to focus? How can I replicate the shower without having to take a shower?
If I can't replicate the shower: Is there a good (water proof?) erasable marker for making notes on the shower wall?
Or is that all just crazy?

How are people organizing their information (professional and personal) in this day and age? What kind of system is flexible enough to cope with multiple data types (PDFs, DOCs, short text notes, hyperlinks, ...), efficient during collection (when browsing the Web, when reading documents, ...) and won't get in my way when I try to use it?

A friend of mine is a schoolteacher with the Chicago Public Schools. On his Mac, he uses Office 2004. He was showing me a feature in the Office 2004 version of Word that I really like. It allows you to open up a document in something called "Notebook Layout View" (I think) that simulates a page of ruled notebook paper as if you were writing in a spiral notebook. It even allows you to format a title and heading and other features.
Anyone know if there is a Vista equivalent for Office 2007? I tried looking through the templates (both what's included with 2007 and at Microsoft Online) and I can't seem to find anything similar.
(and please, no flames or exhortations to "get a Mac!" I'm stuck with I have and there's no changing for the time being)
Thanks!

What kind of options do I have for a gadget of some kind that can capture bits of text from a book or magazine? I read a lot and always take notes, highlight, underline, note page numbers to refer back to, all these things to use for reference later on. But actually copying paragraphs into a notebook takes time, highlighting and underlining doesn't really help as I have to go back to the book - but rarely do. Since I keep so much information on my computer, I have wondered if there are small devices (mini-scanners?) that can somehow capture a few lines of text and store it as a .jpg or something. It seems as if I have seen or heard of these but I really don't know what to look for. By the way, I
have used Jott to read a paragraph and have it in my email as transcribed text. That's nice, but I don't want to make a phone call every time I want to capture some text.
As always, thanks in advance!

I worked at a newspaper for five years. I quit three years ago. Now, about 25% of the staff is getting laid off, including some friends. I don't have a problem talking to those friends about any of this. But then there are other people I liked but haven't kept in touch with (at most, I've seen them at a few gatherings). What do I say to those former co-workers I liked who are now getting the ax? I figure they could use a kind word and a vote of confidence.
