I'm a US citizen living in the US, but I will be moving to London this summer. I'll be traveling on a spousal settlement visa. Is there anything wrong with entering the UK from Ireland the first time I travel? [more inside]

I'll be visiting a friend in Dublin in a few days, and we'd like to go see Giant's Causeway. Is there a good and easy way to do this that could get us there and back in a day? Or if you've done it spending the night somewhere, is there an in-between place you'd suggest? [more inside]

Naive Northern Ireland political question: at the moment there are 5 seats in the UK parliament held by Sinn Fein MPs who do not attend or vote on principle. One possible outcome of the UK election next week is a minority Conservative government reliant upon the Ulster Unionist bloc of MPs for a working majority. Is there any possibility that Sinn Fein MPs will end their boycott of parliament to prevent the concessions the Unionists are likely to demand in return for support?

What are some great resources, preferably online, of fringe arts (burlesque, cabaret, circus, improv, street theatre, etc) in the United Kingdom? [more inside]

Can anyone recommend an Irish - or even Northern Irish - poem or extract, on the topic of love or romance, that would be suitable to be read out at a civil wedding (ie, no references to God or religion allowed) [more inside]

GoogleFuFailureFilter: I am looking for free transcripts of UK (Westminster) Parliamentary debates for around 1969-1980. Specifically, I'm looking for discussions about Northern Ireland. Astonishingly, I can't find them after a full day of looking, not even on the Westminster website, which seems only to go back as far as 1988. How is this possible? Help!

If Blair called for a referendum in Northern Ireland on joining Eire, which side would win? Has the higher birth-rate of Catholics made a difference? Is the increasing paramilitary disarmament indicative of a political climate in which a democratic handover could take place with an acceptably low level of violence?
