Tomato Season. There is nothing like homegrown tomatoes in summer, bursting with goshdarn flavor. That said, there's gotta be something of close-to-homegrown-caliber at the farmstands or something, yeah? YEAH? Where are the best tomatoes in all of New York City. Where do I buy these tomatoes.

Is there a site that lists all fireworks displays in New York City? Since fireworks require permits, they must be tracked somewhere. All summer long I hear fireworks outside my window two or three times a week, and it'd be nice to see them too!

I'll be in NYC for a couple of days for a conference, and will be free on Sunday and Monday evenings, starting at about 6 pm. I'm looking for suggestions of stuff to do in the evenings in lower Manhattan (I'm staying at the
Downtown Marriott if that helps). So I'd love your suggestions for fun places to eat dinner, have drinks, enjoy dessert, or just stroll around at night for sightseeing or people-watching.
I've already checked out these three questions on Ask MeFi, so if there's stuff in there that you think is worth checking out (or should be avoided), let me know.
Thanks, NYC MeFites!

What is the best bike route to get from North Brooklyn to Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY? I'm trying to plan a trip and I'm not sure I trust google maps' bike route feature yet, and ridethecity.com doesnt go outside of the city limits. I'm looking for the safest route possible, but I also wouldnt mind going a little out of the way for a more scenic ride.

What's the best way to get across midtown Manhattan by bicycle? Looking at bike maps of the city, it seems there's no bike lanes going East-West between the lower 20s and wayy up in 90th St (on the east side) and 77th St (on the west side) Assuming I want to get across town by travelling in the 50s (or reasonably close to that), which street(s) should I take for the safest, least traffic-rife ride?

I'm looking for a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation service in New York City to take my 83-year-old father to appointments for radiation treatment. I've done some searching on the web, and based on some recent information, many of them seem to be a bit scammy. Does anyone know of a reputable service he could use? He's ambulatory, but moves slowly due to serious arthritis.

NYC filter: Looking for a bar on the Upper East Side (preferably east 80s/90s) which can accomodate a group of ~50-70. My high school class is having its 15th reunion, which will start off at our school and then progress to an after-party at a bar at around 9/9:30pm on a Friday in June. So a private room would work, as would a bigger bar which could simply accomodate a mass influx. Anything from divey to schmancy is a possibility. Thanks!

I also need fun, little kid-friendly things to do in Southern Brooklyn (Fort Greene, Prospect Heights, northern Park Slope) and the city beyond.

My new roommate has been sneezing since he got here, and I think it may be the dust/dust mites that's bothering him. I suspect the inherited mattress he's using may be harboring them, although it's otherwise perfectly fine. So: recommendations for a good mattress cover that will keep in the allergens, isn't weird and crinkly and won't destroy our tiny budget? (More info and further allergy inquiries behind the cut)

My family will be in Manhattan in a few weeks for my mother's 60th birthday. One of the ways we would love to celebrate the occasion is with a family portrait. Unfortunately this is not something I have ever done before, so I don't know how to judge which photographer -- and what price -- is right for us. I'm looking for general advice for hiring a photographer, and personal recommendations of photographers you know in Manhattan.
