It's a bit of a wide net I'm casting here, but where's the biggest and/or nicest apartment I can rent for under $500 in fairly cool cities in the Eastern half of the USA? Say, anywhere east of (and including) Minnesota to Louisiana. I love NOLA, and I've liked everyone I've ever met from Minnesota...

I'd like to find out about the biggest street performer events and communities and festivals and stages as possible. All and any links are welcome. What are the best online resources as far as busking/street performer/street art communities are concerned? I've already been to performers.net, where I'm posting this question as well. I'm in New York City, but anywhere is fine.

I've set up a website showcasing NYC's street performers, among other things. It has just started, and I'm trying to tell artists about it. I've tried contacting MUNY and performers.net, with mixed results. Other than traveling Manhattan's streets with a business card, what other ways are there of getting in contact with the city's street artists?
