I'm planning to move from one NYC neighborhood to another at the end of the summer. Though I'm 99% sure I'll be able to cover all potential expenses (movers, security deposit, first/last month's rent, broker's fee), I was wondering if there's a
reputable company that advances small loans to help cover these costs.

A friend and I are heading into NYC next weekend. We are coming from Montreal and driving across the border. However, after that, we haven't decided the best way to get into the city. Should we drive to Albany and take a bus from there? (Is there long term parking in Albany?) Should we drive into a suburb and take a train in? Should we drive into the city and find a lot? (I'd probably prefer to do one of the first two unless there is some reason to do the third.)

I'll be in New York City the 21st through the 23rd and would like to take in a much art/cultural stuff as I reasonably can, but it's New York and outside of the big four (MOMA, the Met, AMNH and the Guggenhiem), I'm not really sure where to start.

We're traveling by car from central New York (just west of Albany) to New York City this weekend. For timing reasons, we'd like to drive from our home to somewhere far downstate. Then to avoid driving and parking in NYC, we'd like to pick up a Metro North train and take it into the city. Which stations are the safest places to leave our car for a weekend?

My wife wants to know if there are any groups in the New York City area that involve school-age children and bicycle mechanics. The point of the question is we have an old Dyno Mooneyes cruiser bike in great shape with a broken rear fender -- it would actually have to be welded to be reconnected. We'd like to donate it, and she thinks some kids might get a kick out of fixing it up, especially if they're into low-rider or other fancy-pants souped-up types of bike. (It's heavy, so she's not into the idea of shipping it anywhere. We're in Westchester.) Thoughts? Suggestions? Recommendations?

NYC restaurant filter: Taking an elderly, out-of-town couple (that we don't know well) out to dinner. We'd like to take them somewhere reasonably nice (cost not a concern), but we do know that they prefer plainer foods that are easy on the digestive system. Manhattan required, midtown preferred. I'll be in NYC for a couple of days for a conference, and will be free on Sunday and Monday evenings, starting at about 6 pm. I'm looking for suggestions of stuff to do in the evenings in lower Manhattan (I'm staying at the
Downtown Marriott if that helps). So I'd love your suggestions for fun places to eat dinner, have drinks, enjoy dessert, or just stroll around at night for sightseeing or people-watching.
I've already checked out these three questions on Ask MeFi, so if there's stuff in there that you think is worth checking out (or should be avoided), let me know.
Thanks, NYC MeFites!

NYC filter: Looking for a bar on the Upper East Side (preferably east 80s/90s) which can accomodate a group of ~50-70. My high school class is having its 15th reunion, which will start off at our school and then progress to an after-party at a bar at around 9/9:30pm on a Friday in June. So a private room would work, as would a bigger bar which could simply accomodate a mass influx. Anything from divey to schmancy is a possibility. Thanks!

My new roommate has been sneezing since he got here, and I think it may be the dust/dust mites that's bothering him.
