Christmas/Holiday/Winter movies set in NYC? Hello all and Happy Holidays!

This is my first Christmas as a New York resident and I want to get in the spirit by watching Christmas movies set here. I can think of a few off the top of my head, but just for the sake of discussion, please give me your favorites, be they classics, modern classics, weird or obscure.

I'd even like to know those that are just set in winter in the city, but aren't necessarily holiday themed (like Stillman's Metropolitan, which I love).

Where is Chocolate playing in New York?

Chocolate is the new badass movie from the people who made The Protector and Ong-Bak; where is it playing in New York? The Voice a) says it is awesome, and b) that it opened three days ago at Sunshine Cinema, but Sunshine's website doesn't mention it. Moviefone doesn't list it. Does anyone know where this movie is playing?

Help us identify this NY-themed, fairytale, mixed-media movie My wife and I are trying to identify this film. It takes place in NY and probably specifically Manhattan. Has a certain late 80s early 90s feel to it. Possible contains both animation and normal film.

The plot is possibly about a girl going back and forth between the real world and an animated/fairytale world, possibly in order to save New York from an evil goblin? The music is memorable, but unfortunately not memorable enough.

Help our ailing collective memory.

What is this art thing going on in lower Manhattan?

What is happening in Foley Square, Manhattan (the asphalt "park" near the courthouses)? First, there were lots of small brightly-colored rabbits. Then they were gone and there was an enormous pink rabbit. Then that was gone, and there was something described by a friend as "a Grimace head emerging from the underworld." And there is filming.

Can anyone identify this project?

finding movie theatres and showtimes in NYC

Is there an easy-to-use site that lists all movies, theatres and showtimes in NYC. Please, God, PLEASE don't say citysearch! I get so frustrated trying to figure out when and where movies are showing, I'm tempted to give up movie-going altogether.

I generally know exactly what movie I want to see. I just need to know where and when it's playing in Manhattan. I'd like to know all theatres that are playing it, because if it's a theatre that's far from me, I'll sometimes choose to go there and sometimes not, depending on how badly I want to see the film.

Citysearch sucks. It's user-unfriendly and has tons of misinformation. I just searched for "28 Weeks Later," (a pretty major release), and the site claimed that it was only playing in Brooklyn, Hawthorne, and Secaucus New Jersey. I KNOW that's not true.

I have better luck with Fandango.com, but it only lists movies that it sells tickets for.

Best case scenario, I'd like a site that lists showtimes for ALL movies playing in Manhattan: small indy films and big Hollywood flicks. But I'll settle for checking two or three sites if necessary. I just want easy access to accurate info.

Bonus points for a site that tells me whether or not a theatre has stadium seating.

NYC Film & Theater Makers' filter: please suggest online resources for finding out what's going on in NYC! I'm looking for secret resources for all the good stuff happening in NYC in the film, indie film, tv production, theatre, and improv/comedy circuit.

Seeking resources that are applicable to any of the following sub-groups: actors, comedians, writers, directors, and producers, all genders and all ethnic groups.

I already know about the Shooting People NY mailing list- I'm looking for more stuff like that. Newsletters, open casting bulletins, calls for submissions, mailing lists, audition calls, classes, networking events, etc. etc.

Where to find Nigerian movies?

Where can I go in New York to get Nollywood films on DVD? What should I get? And should I be so overcautious/xenophobic to pay in cash? I first read about the new Nigerian film (i.e. video) industry in a paper (pdf) delivered at the last Documenta. Then I read in the Guardian about the English guy who went to Lagos to get his film made on the cheap. And when one of my best friends told me that she spent three hours in a braiding salon watching a no-budget Igbo remake of Die Hard, I decided that I had to start watching some of these films.

I have found one place online to buy Nigerian videos, but since I'm a total beginner I'd really prefer to go to a store and talk to someone. What's more, perhaps I'm being overly cautious, even jingoistic, but for a country whose third-largest industry is scamming old people out of their savings, I'm a little concerned about using my credit card.

I'm in New York and imagine that there's enough demand from the immigrant population to have a store somewhere.
