How can I keep abreast of photo gallery openings, new photo exhibits, photo-related events in NYC? Any favorite online resources that do the work for you? Woeful that I missed out on the Juergen Teller opening at Lehmann Maupin. Help me not miss any other good shows!

I want to generate a list of visual artists working in NYC. Just the ones with established, active careers and gallery representation -- this is so I can get a new internship. I'm especially interested in artists in their 30s and 40s.

What is happening in Foley Square, Manhattan (the asphalt "park" near the courthouses)? First, there were lots of small brightly-colored rabbits. Then they were gone and there was an enormous pink rabbit. Then that was gone, and there was something described by a friend as "a Grimace head emerging from the underworld." And there is filming.

Can anyone identify this project?

What are these stickers I keep seeing on the NYC subway? I keep seeing these star and triangle stickers in NYC subway cars. What do they mean? Where do they come from?

What's this public art/sculpture in NYC? It is plastic and shiny and is located just outside Central Park, across the street from the Apple store on 5th (or it least it was on Dec 31st when I took the picture).

Missed art show of animated Humphrey Bogart?

Last month in the New York Times I saw an image of Humphrey Bogart from his classic film "Treasure of the Sierra Madre", but the picture was animated/rotoscoped, in the same style as the recent "Scanner Darkly". What was this from, who is the artist, and how can I see it? I do not know if the image in the paper was a shot from an entire animated version of the film(which would be awesome!), or just an artist's rendition of a single shot from the film. I saw this image in a section about art exhibits and happenings to attend in the month of July/Aug in New York. I'm a huge Bogart fan, any New Yorkers out there who can help me?

NYC Galleries Tomorrow? Taking the early Accela from Boston, getting into Penn Station at 11:30. Hitting the new MOMA for some art absorbtion - but are there other things / galleries that I should hit before the Pixies show? I'm meeting up with a friend @ 5:30 who's treating me to the concert. I'll be staying through the next noon, so that's also an option for hunting.

Studio Space in NYC

I would like to start doing some messy art: oil painting and maybe some metal sculpture. But my NYC apartment doesn't have any space for this. I was wondering if there are any studios in New York City (or Brooklyn) that one can rent (or share) by the hour. I won't be using it enough to rent the space for long periods. I might use it once a week. I might go a month without using it. The perfect place for me would be reasonably priced and stocked with basic equipment, i.e. easles. If there isn't a place like this, someone should start one. Not a bad business model for luring wanabe artists.

Original Art in NYC or toronto

Where would I go about finding cheap original artwork for sale in New York City or Toronto? (More inside...) My friend is a Torontonian coming to New York for a week, and he has been looking for a while for original artwork for his new apartment. He is searching for something more modern, but will give anything a chance (posters, prints, photographs, paint, or anything). However, as a student, he has a very limited budget - he is looking to spend at the very most $250 US for anything, and would prefer to spend less. Obviously, this isn't that much for a 'name piece', or any piece for that matter, but he's just looking for something nice, be it by a student or a no-name artist or anything. He knows some good general areas to look (Williamsburg-NY, Queen St W-Toronto), but is looking for specific people, stores, galleries, websites, or anywhere he could browse and find something.
