I live in Toronto. I'm flying to New York for a week. My outgoing flight is already booked, but I'm booking my return for May 13. I usually fly Porter, which takes me from Newark to the Toronto Island airport, which I love, and is convenient.
I just saw that there's construction at Newark airport, causing delays. (Info here
Should I avoid Newark airport for my flight back? If it affects things: In Toronto, I live downtown. In New York, I'm staying on the lower east side.

Household member is temporarily working in Boston, and household (cat included!) is in PA, west of Newark. This is a sucky 5+ hour drive, and it seems to be far enough outside of a normal bus or Amtrak route to be worthwhile. What's the best strategy (and price) for booking weekend commuter flights between Boston and Newark? Do you show up and go standby, or Orbitz every time, or ... ?

A friend and I live in Newark and Kearny, NJ, respectively, and go to school in Madison. We're both dating Brits who are captivated by the (relatively mundane) Christmas lights displays we've seen just driving around so far. Where's somewhere nearby we can go where we can show them ridiculously tacky Christmas lights, ideally set to music or something equally ridiculous? I've found mention of a house in Morristown online but was wondering if there was anything else, or any neighborhoods that tend to all go all out.

Asking for a friend: Are car rental desks at Newark Airport (specifically National, in P3) in heated areas or are they out in the parking garage? Flying in later in the weekend so probably don't need snowpocalypse warnings but could someone more familiar with the airport help out? Thank you.

I'd like to write a fictional short story about the construction of a skyscraper in Newark and an incident of corruption that threatens the structural integrity of the building (based loosely on the Citygroup Center incident
. Note: I'm not saying this crisis was caused by corruption). I am seeking books, articles, photos and videos (especially), and general inspirational material on modern skyscraper construction and, particularly, any incidents similar to the Citygroup crisis. Additionally, anything worthwhile on the city of Newark (I've watched Brick City
, which was the primary inspiration for the setting). Many thanks to all in advance!

The Great Blizzard of Christmas 2010 has severely derailed my plans (love snow as I do). I was supposed to fly from Newark to Hong Kong on Dec. 26th at 3:30, arrive in HK at 8:30pm Dec 27th, then fly Air Asia Hong Kong-Bangkok on the morning of Dec. 28th with a connecting flight immediately following from Bangkok - Luang Prabang, Laos.
Newark is supposed to get a foot plus of snow tomorrow. I am feeling a little screwed. Is anyone out there skilled at making the best of this kind of situation? I've never dealt with it before, and have spent the last eight hours trying to make something work. Details below. [more inside]

I'm moving soon to the Newark, DE region for a job, and I would like to know about the best places to live in the area. I don't know anything about the region; I don't even know if Newark itself is a fun place to live (is it?).
I currently live in Boston and would prefer a semi-urban environment to an urban one. I'm willing to commute a bit if necessary; for example, one idea is to live closer to Philly, but if I did that, would traffic be bad? I would be going the opposite direction of most commuters, I think.

NewarkFilter: My friend is taking the LSAT at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, NJ, on June 16. She's coming from Brooklyn and the test starts at 12:30pm. What's the best and least stressful way to get there, and where can she hang out for a few hours before the test, since she's going extra early in case there's a transportation delay?

I'm looking for a good place for a late-evening dinner between Newark airport (EWR) and Parsippany. I'm flying into EWR from the west coast this Thursday and my flight lands at 8. By the time I get into my rental car for the drive to Parsippany, it's probably about 9:00. If I were to go directly to my hotel, I'd probably check in and be in my room a little before 10, when a lot of restaurants close. [more inside]
