Fellow sysadmins of MeFi, I chose the wrong year to be out sick then stuck in a wheelchair. Please describe the toolkit and read me the runbook for 'every freakin' thing I can do to get back to work ASAP' [more inside]
I'm ashamed to say I've been somewhat avoiding the whole job application and networking stuff. I find it very difficult to speak to people because I have a quiet voice and I'm very standoffish. I tend to have a very robotic way of speaking and I've been told I look overwhelmed and scared a lot. I find it very difficult to express myself and sometimes I wonder if I even have a personality. How do I change so I can be more likable and approachable? [more inside]
After less than six months in my new job (and on the advice of my boss), I'm looking for another one. I plan to go into major networking mode, and I need a good way to explain why I'm looking for a job after I just started one. Hope me? [more inside]
I am a 25-year-old woman and a recent college graduate (just earned my Master’s in English in December). I’m looking for higher education administrative jobs in the area: basically, to be an admissions counselor, financial aid counselor, academic advisor, and the like. There are a few concerns on my mind about the process. [more inside]
I was contacted about a job with a company by a HR recruiter (not from that company) on LinkedIn. I was aware of this job from the company’s website and also I have a friend who is working at that company in a peer position. That friend said he spoke to his boss, and his boss said I should apply for the job via the company's website, so I did. Would there be any benefit following up with the HR recruiter from LinkedIn anyway? [more inside]
When job searching, how do you successfully network without looking tacky, blowing your cover at your current job, looking desperate - just general rules for avoiding acting in poor taste, whatever that would look like? [more inside]
My job search is making me extremely upset and depressed. What am I doing wrong? How can I push through the constant disappointment? Please hope me. [more inside]

Digital Job Search, LinkedIn Filter: I'm shy when it comes to asking people for help. I want to expand my job search horizons by learning how to use LinkedIn more effectively, and by getting over my inability to network. [more inside]

I think networking is the missing element to my rather unsuccessful job search effort. Any suggestions as to how I could grow my network usefully? How much about "networking" is hype? [more inside]
I'm employed, but looking for a new job. I'd like to apply for a job with a cool company, but my current company has a content partnership with them. Someone I work closely with manages this business relationship, and I fear it might get back to him somehow if I were to apply. Can I discreetly apply for this position without risking anyone at my current job finding out?
