Where can I find detailed information on anti-virus software comparisons? I've heard of and seen some charts that display details such as catch rates and etc but have never known the exact source. Something like this perhaps: http://virus.untangle.com/ but a more broad spectrum, preferablly one that includes AVG and Avast! Also what is the best firewall for Windows Vista?

My work's firewall recently began blocking outbound traffic that isn't on ports 22, 80, and 443, and I'd like to use my home router (running openwrt) to proxy my personal IMAP email so I can read it from work. [more inside]

Warning: Networking Geekery Ahead Once upon a time I was able to use VNC viewer (the binary executable, not the java viewer) on my work Windows XP PC to connect to VNC server on my home Windows XP PC via Port 443. This allowed me to view and control my home desktop in a window on my work PC and thereby do an end run around the restrictive web filter/firewall at work. It was slow, but it was still useable and reliable.

I stopped using it for a couple of weeks when I lost my USB key. I recently found it and tried my VNC connection again from work. It doesn't work now. [more inside]

MetaNetowrkingGeek question.

I have an XP box behind a wireless Belkin -g router (it's hardwired to the router, my powerbook uses the G around the house).

I'm going to be away for a week.

I'm on a Dynamic IP via comcast.

How do I access my machine:
Optimally -
1) Windows Remote Access (There's a Mac client - I could control the PC)
2) SMB (or FTP if SMB is blocked/not secure enough)

I get the whole "dyndns" and it's variants (although I'm not sure it's set up right). It's just not working. Port mapping at the router? What? What? What to do?
