Asking for a friend who is an MFT. He is considering moving into private practice, however, he isn't ready to make the leap from a steady and reliable job to a job where income is very dependent on the size of your professional network--and he doesn't really have a professional network at all right now.
Any tips on how to ease into private practice with a low initial commitment and pressure--just a part time thing with only one or a few clients?

I have a Mac Pro set to DHCP manual assign and a certain IP address that cannot change. I also have a printer plugged into a certain network jack; IP address less important. I am moving the physical location of the Mac Pro near this printer and the printer's network jack is the only one available. I'll have to plug both of these machines into the same network jack via switch/router.
What switch/router is the right one to buy in 2013 (bonus if I can find it at Best Buy) and what the right way to set this up so the Mac Pro is still reachable at the same IP address on the network?

Here's the deal. I have a dsl gateway connected to a desktop with no wireless card connected upstairs. I would like to run ethernet somehow to a ps3/360 for optimal performance but it's impossible without making a big mess. I do have another phone jack about 15 feet from the 360/ps3. Is it possible to connect the second jack to the main internet connection somehow? I'd rather not go powerline.

I just purchased an underpowered computer to experiment further with remote desktops.
Ideally I'd like to be able to use a remote desktop technology to stream HD video from the remote server, play a game on the client that's rendered on the more powerful server, and to have a local user work on the remote serving computer while another account on the server is being accessed remotely by the thin client.

I'm a student who's been hunting around for internships lately and someone close to me (who works in an industry with some overlap to my area of study) has very kindly helped me out by asking around in his network of contacts. Almost universally the response he/we have gotten have been along the lines of "hmm yeah, we don't have any specific openings right now but send us your resume and we'll take a look at it!". I have a friend who has become totally reliant on an e-mail account, which was provided by an internet service provider which she has just left to go to a new ISP. She uses Outlook 2003 as her e-mail client program. Unfortunately, she is now finding that after moving to this new ISP that although she can receive e-mails absolutely fine, she cannot send e-mails.

I just moved to a big city after graduating college in August. I'm not sure exactly what I want to do, and I'm not the most ambitious or confident person, to say the least. I have a somewhat untreated case of ADD, but I don't take my meds anymore; I'm finding coffee and exercise are much better.
