Help me stop missing email

It's time to start looking for a new smartphone. How Do I Connect 3 External Drives To My WiFi Network?

I've replaced an aging iMac with 3 external drives hanging off of it with a Macbook Pro with the same 3 external drives hanging off of it. The setup also includes a cable modem and a Time Capsule. Right now the drives are in daisychained Firewire mode. I'm looking for a way to connect the drives to my wifi network so I can eliminate the need to plug the first drive into the laptop? Staying with Firewire would be nice, but it's not a deal breaker.

Recommend a newbie friendly book for linux networking

I am learning in college about setting up and configuring Slackware Linux and I am looking for a newbie friendly book. Areas covered includes FTP, telnet, Samba, NFS, Email, port mappers/scanners. While there are certainly many books out there, Slackware appears to be a fair bit different from most other debian and redhat based distros so I am not sure about a) what would be a good book and b) a book that is relevant for Slackware Linux. Could anyone suggest an excellent book suitable for Slackware and covering these networking areas in newbie friendly terms. Many thanks!

Home Networking Setup Advice

Hi I have just moved house and the broadband has been installed. There is only one phoneline which is the other side of the house to where I need the rg45 connections. I can scrabble together something that work, but I was wondering if anyone can give me advice for a better setup. I have: Adsl router Slingplayer Pogoplug 2 x Homeplug playon.tv installed on pc The primary use of the pogoplug is to stream music and films to my PS3 and TV - I currently have that connected to the router in the other room away from the TV/PS3 and the homeplug bringing in the wired connection. Any ideas gratefully received. TC

Alternative to Adsense (little text on site)

I have a sort of photo sharing website that breaks content up by category. There is not much text on the site, and we've been rejected by Google AdSense on that basis (not enough text). A network of pigeon owners?

I'm trying to find a reference to a story I heard of, possibly here but maybe not. It was about a society of pigeon owners that had a voting scheme that worked along the lines of PageRank, where the value of your vote was based on the number of other members voting for you, calculated recursively. It was an old system, possibly around the French Revolution. My Google-Fu is completely failing me. Does any of this ring any bells?

Win7 to XP file sharing setup advice needed

I am computer competent and networking stupid. I have a pretty simple setup in mind, but I'm not sure how to do it. I have searched around and I found several guides and discussions related to my goal but after trying unsuccessfully to get this thing going on my machines I decided someone here could probably offer some good advice. I want to have file sharing capabilities between my desktop and my netbook. No printer or internet connection sharing or anything else needed--just file sharing. I have a desktop running Windows 7. It has no wireless card. I have an Asus Eee PC netbook running XP. Both connect through the internet through an Asus RT-N12 router. The desktop wired and the netbook wirelessly. What is the simplest way to do file sharing between these two computers with this setup? Even just telling me the type of setup I need to use or a poke in the right direction would be helpful. ThankS!

How can I benchmark and measure cloud computing latency?

I am looking to do a project on the effects of latency on cloud computing, specifically latency impacting on Amazon EC2 virtual machines and I am trying to get my head around it. EC2 is an Infrastructure As A Service cloud product. Unfortunately, I do not have much experience with it. I haven't found alot on the internet on this area; has anyone seen any information on this subject? Could anyone make suggestions about appropriate ways to do latency benchmarking in this area. What kind of things ought I be looking to include in any benchmark tests. How exactly do others go about measuring latency for Amazon EC2. Are there any software tools out there which will help.
