I just moved into my first multistory home. Time Warner Cable installed their wifi modem on our second floor, and we have a very weak wifi signal in our (finished) basement. I'd like to know how to boost our wireless signal with minimal sacrifice of bandwidth/speed, and without having to have TWC come in again and move our modem to the first floor. Details within. Microsoft is going to do BAD THINGS to my users' desktops when I release this month's patches. I could use some input from the hive mind on how to proceed. [more inside]

My Tivo and 360 can no longer access the internet because my provider has set up a Terms of Service page that you have to click on through a web browser before it will let you access the internet. What can I do to get internet for my browser less devices? [more inside]

I have a three person Mac OS X office where we need to have remote access to about 4GB of files. I have looked around extensively for a solution and so far have not found an acceptable one. We have tried to use Back to my Mac and Apple Remote Desktop but the other two users are not that technically adept and it seem too complicated for them. Out problem is further complicated by the fact that we sometimes access the same files, so we can have version problems as well. Back to my Mac has never worked period.
Could I use Amazon S3 storage? And manage with Subversion or Git? Are there reasonable clients for Subversion and Git. Drobo with network card seem over the top and too costly.
Having the files on the cloud would be a perfect solution, however a local solution that could be accessed from anywhere will work as well.
To further complicate we are thinking of having one person access via PC.

We use clinical software that uses a MS SQL database. It has a five million records weighing in at 40 GB. The software doesn't have a mobility option but we need one. The company has it on their feature request list but its at least 3-5 years away. HELP. [more inside]

When I use the wireless network at my local library with my ibook, I am continually prompted for a password and username, and although the signal strength remains reasonably constant, pages often fail to load. Can I do anything to fix it? [more inside]
