Mom just gave me a $100 Amazon gift card for my birthday. I'm thinking of taking the Amazon Prime plunge. But, I already have Netflix and am very happy with that. "Fringe" is my main reason for wanting Prime and even though it would save me money over renting the show, I wonder if there is other Prime exclusive content to help push me over the edge. Netflix using Roku now appears to only support Dolby Digital Plus. My existing receiver does not support Dolby Digital Plus. What are my best options? My Receiver has 7.1 analog plugs, plus supports dolby digital and dts ex. It has coax and optical inputs but no HDMI. (I am currently using an external HDMI switch that has these as an output, but as I understand it DD+ does not work with optical.) [more inside]

Searching for a movie on I saw on Netflix: found footage style where teens are warned to stay off land owned by a religious group. Teens don't heed the warning and are slaughtered by the religious group at the end.

I can't for the life of me get Netflix to stop skipping every nanosecond on my Macbook. I have a netflix account, and I like anime (but know little to nothing about it). What are the best ones, on netflix, to watch? Among the one's I've seen and liked on Netflix: Samurai Champloo, Macross (all of them), Blue Drop, Spice and Wolf, and Gurren Lagann, and Initial D. There are others, but are there any hidden anime gems on Netflix that I'm missing?
I do not have cable or satellite and I need to watch a program on TNT. I have a TiVo DVR; PS3; Netflix streaming; ethernet connection to iMac. I am willing to spend a little money for the show. Why does the Netflix Watch Instantly homepage hate me? It can take anywhere from 5 minutes to ∞ minutes to load all the images. I can't say it's completely useless without the images—if I'm desperate, I can mouse over every black rectangle to see what it contains—but I'm sure the irritation is shortening my life. While it's loading, I typically see a message that Firefox is waiting on data from one of (what appear to be) Netflix's servers. I tried flushing my DNS cache, and that actually seemed to help momentarily, but then it stopped helping. (Yeah, I don't think it really helped.) Is this just Comcast throttling Netflix so I'll use Comcast's video service? Is there anything I can do to speed things up? I started the dreaded customer service phone call last night and that actually seemed to precipitate an avalanche of image loading—did they see my customer service ID and say hey, dump that guy's images so he'll hang up?

Why are certain Netflix shows jittery on certain devices, while other combinations of devices/shows are not? [more inside]
I know everybody asks this (and I've read through the previous questions looking for recommendations), but what should I watch next? Preferably on Netflix or Hulu Plus (not web only). In general, I tend to like: mysteries/crime procedurals/law dramas, especially with a quirky twist, and also shows involving a quirky band of misfits (or individual) working outside the law to bring justice to the little people while finding out who done them wrong (e.g. the A-Team, Burn Notice, The Pretender, etc.) I also like heist shows and sci-fi. And occasionally anime. [more inside]

Black 2.0GHz MacBook (2GB memory) from 2006 -- it's been repurposed as a Netflix playback machine. I have it connected to a VGA adaptor to a 19" widescreen monitor and it plays back Netflix in a browser and we also watch DVDs on it, and we also play AVIs with VLC. The problem: video is just slightly choppy. Just choppy enough to be annoying. Tried Chrome and also Safari to do the playback. How can I squeeze more video performance from this laptop to avoid the slight choppiness? I have a feeling if I can improve it just slightly that would be a big win.

I would like to buy a home entertainment system. I would like to listen to music, watch television, movies, and play videogames. I would like to have Netflix. I would like to stream media from my network or the cloud. I want great sound but I am not an audiophile, although I am not averse to spending a lot on speakers. I do not want to spend more than 8 hours doing research. I will spend up to $2500-$3000. How do I attack this problem? Can you recommend specific TV's, receivers, speakers, or stuff like a Roku box? Can you recommend sites that provide easy to understand, objective reviews of equipment like TelevisionInfo? I do not want to hit the forums if I don't have to. Can you recommend specific configurations of equipment or point me to sites that supply this information. I feel like if I don't get pointed in the right direction, I am going to over analyze this and spend far too much time that I don't have. I just want a rocking home entertainment solution for my family that I won't want to upgrade a week later.
