Please help me figure out if I'm being unreasonable to want more than a "handshake agreement" between my condo association and our neighbor to have that neighbor a) build a fence that b) straddles our two properties and c) wants us to pay 1/2 of the construction costs for, and that d) we'd "co-own and maintain." Condo drama inside.

I'm living overseas, and recently moved into a new neighborhood. My neighbors have the obnoxious habit of congregating outside on the footpath and talking smack about the local foreigner-me. The things I hear are always heart sinking, and sometimes mindbendingly scary. What should I do - if anything, and how can I stop it from getting me down?

I moved into a new apartment where my back windows now face other neighbors, not too close, but not very far either. This exchange of views is a new thing to me. My question is: how dressed up do you have to be in order to avoid offending the neighborhood? Anyone with "rear window" experiences?

A group of young men are always hanging out in front of my building, drinking beer and smoking weed. Recently, there was some sort of fight that left my neighbor's window broken, and it's gone unrepaired for weeks. From what I gather, this fight has something to do with my neighbor's apartment being burglarized. Right now, I'm feeling intimidated by my neighbors and don't know how to handle the situation.

I recently moved into a 4 unit apartment building. Across the hall lives a single older woman who is proving to be quite the busy body. The girl downstairs from her and she are friends. The young woman that lives down stairs works for some sort of cash advance operation and when my Daughter got a ride home from a co-worker tonight, this neighbor of mine saw and recognized the driver as someone who borrowed from the cash advance agency, but never paid back, and verbally accosted her in the driveway of the apt. building. It was 8:30 at night and she was wearing a nightgown. I found this very unprofessional, and honestly irritating. What I want to know is how can I handle this without it becoming a building war. I've only lived here a month, but her bulldog approach was very insulting to my guest and very inappropriate. The situation could get sticky since the neighbors are pals. Ugh...what to do!

Advice on noisy neighbors. My family just moved. Our immediate neighbors are elderly and hard of hearing, and so the TV volume is quite blaring in the evening, grating for us, but hard on our 2 year old. They seem like nice people though cant understand why our 2 year old needs to go to bed at 8.
Wondering the best approach to this?
Buy them so wireless headsets? They might not like the gesture nor be able to adapt to the intrusion of this new device.
On our end we have tried white noise, but the windows need to stay open with the heat.

Please help us figure out what to do about our nasty neighbor. We have a chain link fence between our yards. Because we were on great terms with the people who used to live there before her, their detached garage forms part of the fence that keep our two Labrador dogs in our yard.
Two short sections of fence on her property connect their garage to the rest of OUR fence. She
just told us that she is going to take those sections down tomorrow, which means our dogs will be able get out of our yard. That is what I need advice about ASAP.

In honor of Earth Day, help me find a creative way to encourage my my neighbor to recycle. We have curbside recycling once a week and they never recycle anything. Their trash is an amazing collection of plastic water bottles, aluminum cans and lots and lots of paper. I hate to see all of this stuff go into a landfill when we have recycling and they have so much to be recycled. Can I do anything to gently prod them into maybe recycling? Is it even my business?
