I've had recurring severe pain in my upper back and neck for the last four years. I don't know what to do next. Several years ago my brother saw a physiotherapist-type dude (other side of the country sadly or I'd be beating his door down) who cured his crippling shoulder pain. Do you know of someone in North London who can do this for me?

First night on the new mattress and I feel horrible - do I need a topper or a new pillow or ??? We replaced our sagging mushy tempurpedic with a new latex mattress yesterday and while it felt awesome when we first went to bed over the course of the night I went from comfy to miserable. I woke up exhuasted, with a headache and tight neck and shoulders. My husband slept great and he is the one with serious back pain, so I want to make this bed work for us.

I recently bought a new wool coat and upon examining at home, I found a small (~1/4"-diameter) button on the outside, under the collar, dead-center at the nape of the neck. What is this for?

My SO's back and neck seem to be permanently tied in knots. She doesn't seem like a tense person, but her muscles indicate otherwise. I can massage her for a while, but it only does so much for her. Can anyone give me suggestions to help her relax her back and neck?

Hey, for the third time in the last ten years or so the same part of my upper back has decided to cause me a spectacular amount of pain and discomfort for the last five days or so. The pain is all on the right side of my upper back, going up my neck to the base of my skull, accompanied with numbness in my shoulder and all down my right tricep, sometimes all the way down to my fingers. Along with the pain I'm nauseous half the time, possibly as a result of the pain itself. Sleeping, working and doing anything at all beyond moaning is really difficult, and the application of heat and cold has only helped temporarily.
Last time I just took over-the-counter back meds for a week until I could get off the couch, and then a bit later went to a chiropractor who identified a problem in my upper spine and assured me he could fix it if I came around every week for the next 20 years and signed over my paycheque. This time I'm going to go to a proper doctor, but can anyone take a guess at what may be wrong and what sort of doctor I should try to see?
Thanks!

I am trying to figure out the name of a horror/sci-fi movie from my childhood. It's a movie where a guy wakes up one day and he has a little alien slug/worm that lives on the back of his neck and talks to him. The alien has drilled a hole in the back of his neck and now injects a powerful narcotic/hallucinogen directly into his brain and controls the guy's life. Nobody knows about the alien slug, and at the end of the movie, he squeezes the alien slug to death and it administers a lethal dose to him, and his head blows up. Name that movie! As I'm older I realize it was a metaphor for drug addiction... and frequently try and explain the plot of the movie to people as best as I can remember. It was probably released around 1991. It may have gone straight to DVD or cable. TIA
