Whither Conan's "Roundball Rock" Segment

Where can I find video of Conan's sketch about John Tesh's NBA theme music? When NBC lost their NBA contract a number of years back, Conan O'Brien did a segment lamenting the loss of John Tesh's theme music "Roundball Rock". In the segment, they paired the music with various other pieces of video (e.g., It's a Wonderful Life) to humorous effect. I've always wanted to see this bit again, but have never been able to find it online. Is it available anywhere?

I am going to be in LA the week of August 10th, and I'm dying to see a taping of the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. I put in a request for tickets, but the website said they are only taking reservations for September. Any MeFites have any inside tips on how to get tickets? I know, I know, I should have requested tickets months ago, but I just finalized my trip today. I'll wince in the corner here while you wag your finger at me.

I understand that there are standby tickets available and that about half the people get in...but I was hoping to get a concrete confirmation ahead of time instead of driving to Burbank during rush hour and waiting in line.

I figure we have Mefites in just about every industry, from funeral directing to mythbusting, so I am crossing my fingers that someone has an inside connection maybe?

Mefi, can you hope me?

When is Michael Phelps competing?

I would like a list of the times Michael Phelps' gold medal races will be shown on NBC (EST). I can't seem to find this information online, or even the events in which he's competing. I can't use NBC's Olympic site to watch video because I can't install Silverlight.

How can I watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics, now that I've missed it? I have a TV but no cable or antennae, and NBC online doesn't seem to have the full thing as a video. Will it be rebroadcast on the web? Will NBC host it after the Olympics are over? Will it be released on Criterion?

What kind of influence do US network anchors have on the news selection and editing process? My friend claims American network news anchors are effectively editors-in-chief; I'm willing to entertain the notion that they are in a position to exert influence over the process and carry more responsibilities than Dutch newsreaders (who are essentially mere presenters), but I don't buy that they can preside over every aspect of the process.

So which is it?

Going to my first talk show taping - what should I know?

So I'm going to my first talk show, indeed my first television show, taping. What should I know? Ellen DeGeneres's show is coming to Chicago in May. Although I'm not a huge fan, my best friend is and so we requested tickets. If we get them (it's not confirmed yet), we'll be going to the NBC plaza to see the show on a Saturday.

How much earlier than the taping start time should we get there? What is it like to see a talk show being taped? About how long does it take to do the show? Is there anything else I should know in general?

I'm not worried about the Chicago part, as I've been there several times, although not specifically to the NBC plaza.

Anyone know of a source for prints (or a schedule for their release) of the very cool Tim Sale pieces from NBC's 'Heroes?' I'd love to have a few in my office, but have sadly only found references to the charity auction that was run last year, and a sketchy UK front for mass oil reproductions from Chinese artists.
What's the new dailymotion?

I need a site like what dailymotion used to be before it got all dmca'd. Any suggestions? I don't have tivo or anything like that, all I have is an on the roof antenna and if I miss an episode of the office (one of my favorite shows right now) I used to be able to catch it on dailymotion. Now, I guess, they've taken down all of the episodes of the office because of some legal hassles.

so is there another site like what dailymotion used to be for me now?

Why has no one sued Dateline: To Catch A Predator?

Legally speaking, how do shows like NBC's "Dateline: To Catch a Predator" or COPS deal with broadcasting the faces of as yet unconvicted suspects? I remember hearing in a documentary (okay, a "VH1 special") that all suspects on COPS have to sign the appropriate release forms (made easier, no doubt, by the fact that an overwhelming majority of people on COPS are drunk). This doesn't strike me as too far-fetched, what with the occasional blurred face and the general "I'm gonna be on the teevee" vibe of the show, but on what grounds can NBC broadcast the dozens and dozens of dumbstruck "child predators?" I can't imagine release forms are involved in that case, so what gives?

90s sitcom about college faculty on NBC

Name that sitcom: I vaguely remember seeing a sitcom about a college or university faculty, where a new lecturer arrives (teaching english lit?) and tries to get to grips with the job. He had long curly dark hair. I think the theme tune was the Eels' Novocaine for the soul, but given how easily googleable that should make it (which it isn't), I might be wrong on that. It was aired somewhere in the middle of the nineties on NBC, though it was NBC in europe, parts of which differ from the US NBC broadcast, so it might not have been on in the US at that time. As my memories of this are rather fuzzy, any of the above claims may be mistaken, so near-misses are appreciated too.

Where are the Peter Puck videos?

My 1st question ever! Anybody know where to get videos of the old Peter Puck NHL animated cartoon spots? I've been looking for the Peter Puck shorts for years, and haven't had any luck. They were shorts made by Hanna-Barbera for NHL broadcasts on NBC in the early 1970s, and were meant to be an entertaining and easy way to teach new viewers about the basic rules of hockey. I love the character design and the look of the animation, and would love to get my hands on copies of the shorts. DVD, VHS, MPEG, AVI, Quicktime, whatever! Anything would be helpful. (Now, if Cartoon Network or whoever holds the rights to this particular Hanna-Barbera vehicle would put out a commemorative dvd, then that would rule, but I'll settle for what I can get!) Thanks to all!

Nightly News Clip

The mother of a friend of the family was on NBC's Nightly News tonight in a short segment regarding soldiers away from tloved ones during the holidays. We missed the news broadcast today, and I can't find a clip of the video.

Looking around for torrents I TV shows, I found plenty of the usual suspects (sitcoms, cartoons, etc) but nothing on this newcast tonight. Heck no places that offer downloads of new programs period.

This would really mean a lot to my fiancee and brother in law. Can anyone help me out, please?

Thank you in advance. Er, make that "loved ones" and "news programs period".
